So today there was definitely some crazy in the air. From the start of work at ten after seven until the time I sat down to write this blog at 7:45 this evening it has been pure NUTS. My morning started out with some very disgruntled patients who were yelling and carrying on at me. Then my second patient of the day ended up slapping me on the shoulder because he was mad and then after that the whole entire day just went to crappola. Some days I just look at my hourly salary and know I am just not getting paid enough to deal with the verbal and physical abuse at work. I find that my empathy for some people runs out very quickly on days like this and I certainly don’t like that. I understand people are sick but there are some very mean people in this world and when they get sick it’s even worse. For anyone who ever gets admitted into a hospital…..please know that it’s not okay to be cruel or mean just because you don’t feel well. Believe it or not…staff is there to help you and make you better so you can get home. The last thing we have on our mind is torturing you or trying to cause you pain. So next time you see a staff member giving patient care….tell them thanks. It might be the only time they have heard that all month.
Okay, okay off my soap box…. 😉
So while in the midst of my crazy work day another crazy adventure was happening with Logan at school. Apparantly, his best friend ran into him during P.E. while they were on scooters and my baby took a tumble. He landed hard on the ground and cut a gash into the bottom of his chin. It was bleeding pretty bad but didn’t look too awful until this afternoon. After Jared picked him up from school it had opened quite a bit and looked yucky. Once I got home at 4:00 I knew stitches were in order. Of course we missed going to his pediatrician by about 20 minutes so ended up going up to Urgent Care a block from my work. So I drove 30 miles home and then drove the same 30 miles back up there as soon as I put my keys away. Thankfully, he didn’t have a concussion or anything serious and the doctor was able to put in some medical grade adhesive to avoid the pain of stitches. Logan was awfully afraid of stitches. So now our little man as a shiner, a glued laceration and some steri-stips holding him all together and he is awfully excited to show all of his friends his beauty mark.
Just got home a bit ago and I am pooped! 2013 is definitely testing my stress level and how much I can take before I combust. If we can survive this year it will be due to a miracle!! Needing a break….ASAP!! 🙂
Hope you’re all doing good and ready for summer days!
