It has been an interesting couple of days here in the ole household. I’ve been trying to get some posts up but just haven’t had the time or the energy.
Logan lost his first front tooth on Tuesday. Came home all proud of himself and asked if we noticed anything. After pretending to not notice the gaping hole in his mouth he finally “told me” what the big change was. haha. He is now officialy in that lisping, hard time chewing, funny stage. He thinks he looks funny but I think it’s just adorable. The other top front tooth is dangling by a thread and will probably fall out in the next few hours. He keep putting his hand over his mouth thinking that will save him from the inevitable. I told him that if he doesn’t lose it the tooth fairy will not visit again which usually perks him right up. I’m not sure the tooth fairy is up for visiting the house twice in one week, especially since rumor has it she could pop out a baby any day now, but we will see if she can muster up some strength. 😉
Sticking with tradition the tooth fairy left 1 dollar and a handwritten note. We also leave out a mason jar filled with water in which the tooth fairy “touches” to leave a color. The color indicates what color tooth fairy has come to visit. I’m pretty sure he enjoys that more than the dollar or the note. This tooth fairy was green but not glittery so he was excited to add that to his collection. Amazing what some water and food coloring can do for a kids imagination. Overall, tooth fairy times are always fun and adventurous. It’s a lot of work with a really smart kid who can sometimes be a light sleeper….so this tooth fairy is having to be extra spy like these days.
Along with the tooth adventures, I finally finished the nursery yesterday. It’s all cleaned, vacuumed and all the decor is officially hung and done. I’m posting tons of pics and stuff tomorrow for the nursery debut so stay tuned. (I know it’s been a long time coming) I also got the car seat installed in the car, finished the baby’s hospital bag and literally got everything ready to go. I felt so much better getting everything off my list and knowing that I can grab 2 bags and head to the hospital without any stress or worry. Yay!!
In other news, I had a bout of “false labor” last night. I lost my mucous plug around 4:30 yesterday afternoon and contractions started shortly after around 5. I have been steadily having contractions from about 6-10:30 every night for over a week. Since Sunday they have been almost constant, night and day. However, I have timed them and they have not been consistent or increased with intensity. Just uncomfortable. Well, last night they went from 7 to 5 minutes apart and continued pretty steadily. The intensity definitely ramped up and around 8:30 I decided to head in. After calling my sister to come sit with the kids we headed out. I was pretty sure they would likely send me home, since that would seem to be my luck but I knew it was better to be safe than sorry. I stayed for about 3 hours and after walking and having contractions every 2 minutes they sent me home due to the contractions not increasing in the length of time they lasted and not having dilated past a 2. I was disappointed and a little discouraged but technically I still have 2 weeks to go so it’s not abnormal to have false labor. The contractions continued until about 4 this morning and have tapered off throughout the day. You would think after having 2 other kids that labor signs would be very obvious but unfortunately they are always different. Plus, I’m finding out that with 3rd babies EVERYTHING is different. So we are still playing the waiting game for Mr. Gavin. The whole family is awaiting in anticipation and I get about 50 texts a day asking if I’ve gone into labor yet. He is definitely already very loved and will have tons of people to fawn all over him once he arrives.
I’ll keep everyone posted on any new changes but for now we are back to counting down the days and trying to keep the house clean and get as much work done as we can. Owning your own business doesn’t allow for too many days off so definitely trying to double the workload so we can take a bit of time off with the baby.
Hope everyone is having a good week and good news is the weekend is near!! Hooray!!
