It’s been a while since I’ve done an update so I thought I’d jump on here and do a quick one while the baby is happily rolling around in his crib, the toddler is napping, and the older two are engrossed in some sort of screen watching Olympics. Ipad, DS, TV who knows…but I’m starting to think we have too many screens! Ugh.
Speaking of the Olympics, we are knee deep in USA spirit over here. The Olympics are one of our favorite things, especially the summer variety. Swimming tops our must watch list, followed by beach volleyball and gymnastics. Even the hubs stayed up to watch the Final Five take gold last night – and let me tell you we were pretty exhausted – so that says a lot. Watching Michael Phelps win two more golds last night had my house exploding. It reminded me of the Super Bowl a few months back. Seeing him get another gold and some sweet revenge in the 200m butterfly was pretty awesome, not gonna lie. And can we all agree that baby Boomer is freaking adorable! His smile last night when he saw his dad – I die! Anyways, I digress but it’s been fun hearing the kids cheer and get absorbed throughout the day. Who knew rowing and sailing could be so engrossing and competitive to a 9 and 7 year old.
Back to school shopping is officially done. I got their supplies a few weeks ago but hadn’t done any clothes shopping. The boys really always just need jeans since they can’t seem to fit into a pair for more than a year. Mason blows through the knees at record pace and so usually looks like a hobo come January. Thank goodness that look is kind of the “in thing” at the moment, otherwise, the teachers might be questioning my parenting. The kid really is a hot mess.
Speaking of school, they will officially start back on Tuesday but we’ve got a jam packed day tomorrow with orientations, supply drop offs and other shenanigans. Between the school stuff and all the doctors appointments we have been running all over the place. Having 4 kids means 4 different appointments at different times, on different days and all sorts of mayhem. Hopefully, we will make it through the week without too many bruises and only a few missing brain cells. (Also, I would like to note how classy we keep mealtimes with our emoji cups and recycled Dickies cups. I mean #winning)
We had a bit of downtime this weekend to run to the bookstore and get out of the house for a couple of hours. Work is picking back up again, as it does this time of year, so we’ve been putting in extra hours in the evenings as well. Once August and the back to school rush hits we get right into the busy holiday season – so here we go again. Thankfully, we have one INSANE holiday season under our belt so are doing some things now in hopes to prepare. I certainly don’t expect a laid back holiday time but we won’t survive another year like last year so we will combat it with all the lessons we learned last year. Cheers to little sleep and a whole lotta coffee to get us through.
Other than that we are all doing really well. Gavin is recovering from the colds me and Boden brought home from our trip but is getting over it pretty quickly, thank goodness. Boden is currently deep in 4 month sleep regression – so that’s fun for baby and momma, the boys are both DYING to get back to school and Jared seems to escape all the crazy by being in the garage listening to music all day as he saws and hacks away. Hmmm…..how did this happen exactly?! Just kidding, just kidding. I could go on for days on how hard that man works….but we don’t want him to get a big head now do we?!
Other than that nothing exciting happening. We’ve been crazy busy but mostly doing boring stuff that no one really cares to read about. We have lots of house changes happening as well over the course of the next few months including new paint, new style, new decor, new everything but that will be updated at another time and likely over a giant bottle of wine – cause I’ve realized I was insane for trying to do all these changes on my own. I seriously am a glutton for punishment. Ugh what is wrong with me?!
Happy Hump Day!
