It seems likes it’s been forever since I have posted an update. I’m pretty sure it’s only been a week but this time of year everything seems to be on the never-ending “To Do List.”
So a few things have been happening in our “neck of the woods.” The boys enjoyed a short week of school last week followed by 5 days off. It’s funny how kids don’t appreciate time off nearly as much as adults do. I think Mason spent most of the break asking when he gets to go back to school. Apparently, us old people just bore him. Haha. Hopefully they will get back to school tomorrow, although we are expecting a little bit of ice overnight so fingers crossed it isn’t too bad.
Wednesday I got to catch up with some friends I have had since I came out of the womb. It’s always great to catch up and give everyone a chance for some Gavin snuggles. Plus, I got to sip some delicious coffee and get out of the house and away from work for a couple of hours. Gavin was a little angel so it was a really great time!
We enjoyed a really great Thanksgiving last week. We spent lunch with my family which included 40+ people and a whole lotta food. We have added 3 great grandkids this year alone so it’s fun to see all the kids running around throughout the day. It’s been a while since we have had that many little kids so it’s fun to see a whole new generation doing the same things me and my cousins used to do. Funny how fast time flies and how everything changes yet stays the same. We dropped in on Jared’s family after lunch and got to see some of his cousins and family. Glad we got to at least say hello before everyone had to head home. It’s harder to split family time since my mother n law passed away. I usually feel guilty when we miss his family events. I guess it just comes with the territory. We’re never far away in spirit though.
Thursday night I spent with my bestie. It was her birthday and it’s tradition to make yummy food and drinks and hang out past our bedtime. We allowed ourselves a pig out night since we have been so diligently eating clean, exercising and losing weight. I had every intention of gorging myself but was impressed with both of our restraint. We actually managed some pretty good portion control. Go us!! We watched a movie, cuddled with the dogs and definitely stayed up past our bedtimes. (Yes, our bedtimes may be like 10 at the latest….don’t be jealous of our awesomeness) If I didn’t have a 6 month old that still wakes up I probably would have just crashed on the couch with her Great Dane but motherhood always calls so I drove home and kept pinching myself so I wouldn’t fall asleep. The boys were all sound asleep when I arrived home but judging by the picture Jared sent to me while I was gone….I think they missed me.
Friday morning I woke up with the stomach bug that has been going around. I had 2 really rough days of being up all night and pretty sick. I typically avoid all bugs but this one decided I was too good not to love. This is day 4 and I’m feeling mostly back to normal but am still taking it slow when it comes to all things belly related. Just glad Gavin has not seemed to have gotten any of our sickness that has made habitat in my home the past few weeks. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Speaking of Gavin, he turned 6 months old on Saturday!!! I swear it can’t be true. 6 months is a very fun age so I’m looking forward the upcoming month but I honestly can’t believe how fast he is growing. It’s hard, hard, hard!! I will be posting his 6 month update sometime this week.
We continue to work like crazy. The orders have been crazy lately but it’s been awesome. We feel so blessed to be able to do what we do and are so thankful for all those amazing customers who keep us in business. I’m hoping the orders continue even after the holidays…..and I’m hoping I can get Jared to take a day off or two….he’s pretty worn out.
Sunday was football day/errand day. Gavin and the boys got lots of bonding time together. Makes my heart melt! Plus, the Broncos won a big game last night which had my almost 8 year old so excited he got up at 4 am to watch the highlights. Yes, he is nuts!!
Mason was so exhausted from all the weeks excitement he decided he needed to sneak some coffee from mommy’s mug. This new generation….can’t control em!! 😉
I have to get started on Logan’s party which is scheduled for the 13th. I haven’t even gotten invitations out yet….yikes I’m already behind. This time of year is just crazy….who’s idea was it to have a kid in December!! 😉 I am also doing an advent calendar for the kids this year which I must finish today before they get home from school. I’ll post more details on that as the month goes along.
Hoping you all had great Thanksgivings surrounded by family and friends and aren’t having a too difficult time getting back into work mode on this cold Monday. Only 25 days until Christmas. Say What??? Cheers!!
