I love smoothies and their ability to pack a lot of fiber, nutrients, fruit and vegetable servings in a delicious glass. I have been making smoothies since I knew how to operate a blender and I was known as the smoothie queen growing up. No one else could seem to master the whole smoothie thing which surprises me since it’s pretty darn easy. I would never reveal my secrets to my family because let me tell you this is top secret CIA stuff. However, for all of my loyal readers I have decided to give you a peak inside the vault. So without further ado…here is the big secret! Throw a bunch of random stuff in the blender and blend! Voila you have smoothie!! 😉
Honestly, there is no science to my smoothie and I don’t measure anything. I just throw in and add stuff as needed.
This morning me and my littlest helper made a extra delicious berry smoothie that was full of all things dark berries. I drank mine in about 5 minutes and my little helper not only drank but bathed in his smoothie as well. Literally, it was all over his face and hands. Not quite sure what he was thinking!!
For all you fellow smoothie junkies here is a recipe for ya that will not only help you lose weight but indulge your sweet tooth without all the guilt. Enjoy!!
Extra Blue – Berry Smoothie
Handful of spinach
1 1/2 cups of milk (may add more at the end depending on the consistency you like. )
Blueberry flavored yogurt of choice (I prefer greek chobani or activia)
Handful of frozen (or fresh) blueberries
Handful of frozen (or fresh) blackberries
Teaspoon or Tablespoon of chia seeds (if it’s a snack I would stick to a teaspoon, for a meal go for a tablespoon)
Handful of ice
Place ingredients in order listed in blender.
Blend until creamy smooth and add milk to thin out consistency or more yogurt to make thicker.
Pour in a pretty glass and enjoy the taste of health!
