Another summer week down the tubes in the ole Harris household. I already feel like school will be starting too soon and that I haven’t been able to do all the things with the boys I wanted too. Eeek…..where is the time going?
The boys mostly played outside this week. Often I’ll look out the window and see a glimpse of Spiderman or Batman running across the backyard, or a government spy crouching at the top of the hill scanning for bad guys. Other times, I hear the basketballs and baseballs being thrown around or the screams of delight as they ride their wagons down the hill…..yes, they live dangerously! It all warms my heart and I’m trying very hard to cherish each sound and moment because I know they will be gone much too soon.
Jared has been busy working and trying to keep up with his workload and most of mine. I managed to get a couple of hours in the past two days which has helped him and eased my mind a bit. There is of course never enough hours in the day and we always go to bed with more on our to do list than the day before. However, we also rest easy knowing we are so blessed and no matter how busy we get we have the most amazing life.
Gavin is doing great. Getting bigger and bigger. Pretty sure I’ll have some super toned arms since he is going to be a big ole chunky monkey. With all the feeding issues I have talked about….it’s forced me and him to pretty much be attached at the hip since birth. Therefore we get lots of snuggle time and slobbery kisses.
Due to lack of sleep around here we try to catch a quick snooze whenever and wherever we can. My neck will probably have permanent damage from the weird places I fall asleep these days. Hopefully, all those little muscles will give me a pass since we do have a newborn.
We tried out a little tummy time this week and while he often looks so helpless….he seems to enjoy it. No wailing as of yet. Plus, I get to see how strong his little head is which always makes a mommy proud. Mason thinks tummy time is pretty awesome too!
Today we tried tummy time on the Boppy and Mr Gavin was just too cool for such activities. He rolled half over and decided he would chill, do some tongue rolls and look up at mommy. I am LOVING this kid’s personality!
We also experimented with different ways to feed Gavin the bottle. I had to get something done and so we rigged up a burp cloth/bottle system. I got so involved with what I was doing….that after 2 minutes I looked over and this is what I found. Yea, this kid pretty much rocks it!
I was able to find some time to make some dinosaur jello molds with the kids. First time we did the molds together….they enjoyed it thoroughly. I should probably be worried that their favorite part was decapitating and eating the dinosaurs heads but hey…..being a mom of boys is not for the faint of heart.
Mason finally got to hold Gavin without him being hungry or needing to poop. Poor guy always seems to hold him at the wrong time. He was super happy and said, “He definitely likes me.” Bahaha he must have really been worried.
Friday we set up our badminton/volleyball net in preparation for family this weekend and we got our picnic tables done. Jared got some much needed yard work accomplished with the boys’ help. During all that excitement Gavin continued to work on being awesomely cute and adding lots of adipose tissue to those chipmunk cheeks.
Hope your week was awesome and you got as much rest and relaxation as this dude.
