We love long weekends around here because that means the kids get an extra day out of school which means we get a tad bit more sleep. Any parent will understand that even 10 minutes of extra sleep is worth celebrating in life. However, all good things must come to an end so the older kiddos will be heading back to school tomorrow and early mornings will once again be knocking on my door.
Saturday we spent the majority of the day with my cousin and his family. The kids played dress up, watched the Lego Movie, laughed and played and made an absolute mess of their cousin’s room. You know, typical kid stuff. The two babies took turns crying/talking, eating, playing and finally sleeping. We all enjoyed some yummy lunch, courtesy of our host, and actually got to have adult conversation…..oh the perks of having friends that are also parents. Gavin also got to enjoy some of mommy’s lipstick kisses….cause that’s every little boys dream! 🙂
Sunday was spent working, cleaning house and catching up on laundry. I swear I have to have 3 full laundry days now. I don’t know how we have accumulated so much laundry but it’s insanity. I swear there is a ghost that is just pulling out clean clothes and throwing them in the the dirty clothes basket. We just got a new washer and dryer and the capacity is a lot bigger than my last set. Yet, I still have load after load after load. Anyone else have this insane laundry issue?? Anyways, I digress. While we were working the older guys spent almost the whole entire day outside in the pool. Best investment ever. Okay, I’m not sure a blow up pool from Wal-Mart is considered an investment but for us it is.
Sunday was also a big day for Gavin. He tried cereal for the first time and LOVED it. Okay, okay I know that this is a controversial subject but I have always waited until the kids were 4 months old to start cereal. However, Gavin has a huge spitting up problem so we are trying the cereal to see if it will help. No it’s not acid reflux and I’ve tried a million things. So far this is helping the problem immensely so as long as it still goes well…I will continue. Otherwise, I’ll pull the plug and wait until 4 months has arrived. He was super happy to eat and use a spoon. Must be really intriguing to eat solids for the first time. He thought so.
I wish I could say Monday was spent with a big BBQ and relaxation but, alas, work needed to be done. So Monday has been like every other Monday….and that’s okay. The boys have been enjoying the pretty weather outside (now that our massive heat wave has gone.) We also got some rain this morning which was much needed. We could probably use about 10 more inches of the stuff but we will take what we can get.
Me and little man did find a little time to take some selfies…cause it is the year 2014 and that’s just what ya do. 😉 As you can see he is getting pretty darn good at the whole art of the selfie. Gotta start em young!
However, a truly good selfie is A LOT of hard work….especially with a baby. So this usually happens as soon as the moment is done. Taking pictures of ourselves sure is exhausting. 😉
It’s the unofficial start of Fall in my book so we are celebrating with chili tonight and pumpkin spice lattes…..or just coffee with pumpkin spice creamer. Gavin wore his fall tiger outfit last night and both boys have been throwing around Halloween costume ideas. Logan starts Mighty Mites tomorrow and found out his team name is the COUGARS. I’m pretty sure this is the animal and not the older woman type! 😉 We are also very excited about football officially kicking off on Thursday night and the Broncos playing Sunday evening. FINALLY, it’s football time. Pre-season seems to have lasted forever. So this coming weekend will be full of orange, blue and cheering in this household. Gavin will get his first official initiation into Harris football Sundays. Can’t wait!
Hope you all enjoyed some really awesome three day weekends and have a great short work week!
