Something momentous happened this weekend and that is that we did minimal work. Probably about 2 hours was dedicated to the business and that was it. It was a much needed break and so thankful for the time together as a family.
Saturday afternoon we ventured out to hit up a Fall Festival, with our cousins, at a local park and then came back for chili, a bonfire and roasted marshmallows. It was a gorgeous day and the perfect cool crisp weather….until we got to the park. I don’t know what happened between our house and the ten minute drive to the park but holy crap it was like stepping into hell fire. We roll up dressed in flannel and jeans and literally roasted. After trompsing through the corn maze, with two strollers, and an insane amount of offspring, we then clunked our way over to the pumpkin patch. In that moment I realized that pumpkin patches are really not conducive to umbrella strollers and I live in a place where the sun is not friendly. After much deliberation the kiddos found the perfect pumpkins and we waited in a mile long line in order to pay. Needless to say, we looked like roasted marshmallows by the time we got back into the van. It was so exhausting, Jared literally put the stroller in the trunk without even folding it up. Just chucked the thing in there. Yes, our life has never looked like such a hot mess. 😉
We came home and had some pumpkin chili with the most important side of air conditioning. We waited out the rest of the day’s heat inside until it was cool enough to venture out and build the fire. Once the sun went down the temperature went back to perfection featuring a cool breeze and a warm fire. The marshmallows were yummy, the kids were running around with glow sticks and the toddlers survived without a single scratch. #winning
Sunday was spent outside playing and getting messy and then inside watching football. We were handed our first loss yesterday so that resulted in another life lesson about losing, for the kids. Poor guys don’t like losing so I seem to have to have these “life talks” a lot these days.
Today it’s back to the grind but we are feeling refreshed and re-energized after a fun weekend with friends. This weekend is family pictures and next weekend is Mason’s birthday party all before rounding out the month with Halloween. Tis the busy season around here! Bring on the fun!!
Hope you all had amazing weekends with your families!
