It was a busy busy weekend around here full of red and pink hearts, roses, love letters and some sweet treats. Okay, okay A LOT of sweet treats. Holidays don’t count as calories, right?
Friday night me and Jared went out for a pre-valentines date. We got “dressed up” and headed out early in hopes of beating the crowds. After failing to find a nice restaurant that wasn’t literally overflowing with people, we decided our hunger pains were louder than the “romance” of a nice dinner. So we ended up at…..drumroll please….
Yup, Five Guys Burgers! Cause ya know all the cool kids get dressed up and dine on burger and fries. I can honestly say we were the best dressed people there and surprisingly only got a few questioning looks. It was the first burger and fries I had had in a LONG time so it felt like we had dined on the finest cuisine and wine.
Afterwards, we got some coffee and strolled the mall in search of some more baby clothes for our big chunky baby. We felt like a bunch of old people in a world full of tweens and teens. I’m pretty sure we couldn’t get out of there fast enough since our coolness level was depleting rapidly.
Since no date is complete without a little business we headed to Hobby Lobby for some DIY talk. It was filled with everyone over the age of 65 so then we started to really feel young. By the time we got home we felt our age which I would say is a perfect end to any date night. haha
Saturday we celebrated with lots of yummy foods, starting out with red velvet pancakes complete with whip cream. Lunch drinks consisted of Cherry Vanilla Floats and in sticking with tradition we had heart shaped homemade pizza and some Red Velvet Smore Brownies that were to die for. Like seriously…I die!!
I got some beautiful roses and lots of touching and very sweet cards from all these little and big men in my life. It’s always extra special to feel so loved as a momma.
Yesterday was a pretty normal day. Got some work done and then put the boys to bed early so me and the hubs could snuggle up and settle in for some SNL 40. We were so excited and the first hour was great and then….it kind of went downhill…in my opinion. It was cool to see so many people all in one place but I was hoping for more sketches and less talking. Am I the only one??? (Cue the totally unrelated…but adorable picture of Gavin’s bath after spitting his food ALL over the place)
We woke up to 7-8 inches of snow on the ground, which makes our backyard quite the winter wonderland. This was Gavin’s first snow so he was quite smitten with all the flakes and powdery stuff. Mason lasted the longest, in the cold, and was dancing around singing all the Frozen songs he could remember. It was quite hilarious and I’m pretty sure even the neighbors were entertained. For the rest of the day we are going to thaw out, enjoy some hot chocolate and coffee, and try not to kill each other with our to-do lists and high energy. No school tomorrow so I’m sure we will have another
stress fun-filled day!! 😉
