So the first month of the year has come and gone and it’s time for a Resolution Check-Up so to speak. I figure most people have already fallen off the wagon and I’m usually toast (About this time) as well so why not evaluate where I’m sitting right now. (Pardon me while I don my white jacket and stethoscope…….alright let’s begin) 😉
#1 (Budget and Save Money)
Okay, so I would be pretty impressed if anyone could get this all figured out in a month. If you’re that person than I personally give you a standing ovation. I have not failed at this but I’m still trying to get a sense of a good monthly budget for us. Like I said in my resolution post….budgeting is extremely difficult when you have no idea what your monthly income will be. So this has been a challenging resolution for me. However, we have been able to cut back on some spending and i’m trying to focus more on catching sales, finding rebates for items and using a few coupons here and there. (Crazy coupon lady I will never be) I know there are a ton of people who’s life mission is to penny pinch and save money but I just don’t have the time to dedicate to that nor do I want to be a slave to the bank account. I’m trying to find balance and I don’t want to be constantly consumed with how much money is coming and going out of this household. There are more important things…in my opinion.
My own personal grade: B…..I have some room to improve with this one.
#2 (Continue eating healthily and lose weight)
Well I just finished a 4 week intense diet and while I didn’t lose as many pounds as I had hoped I did lose some inches which is also good. I’m pretty sure I’m almost down another pants size which is also encouraging. Size 8’s here we come!! It’s always a struggle to stay on the straight and narrow path to health and fitness but it does get easier the more you do it. Going to the gym is pretty routine at this point and I sometimes crave that time just to de-stress. Don’t get me wrong….I’m not a gym rat nor am I jumping for joy when I get to put on my workout clothes at 7:00 at night. Rather I’m dreaming of chocolate chip cookies and a good book. But it’s worth it and I never leave the gym regretting the work out so I’m in a much better place mentally than I was this time a year ago.
My own personal grade: A….I’m pretty proud of myself on this one. I’ve stuck to my guns even when it’s been really, really, really, really hard.
#3 (Organizing the house)
I am happy to report this is also coming along. Slowly but surely some organization is getting done. I started with our game closet and threw out all the game boxes. My husband thought I had gone mad when our kitchen table was littered with games, ziploc baggies were hanging from the ceiling and I kept throwing boxes down the stairs for the trash. I’m pretty sure he just shook his head, reached for the wine and then went to sleep deciding his wife was in one of her “crazy moods” again. Poor guy. I must admit…when the organizing bug stings me, I’m hell on wheels. The boy’s built ins are done and we are just awaiting some time to finish a couple more shelves. I also just need to hang some curtains and their room will be complete. The main bathroom has been stripped down to nothing but a shower curtain and is also awaiting its day of rejuvenation. I can practically hear it calling to me as I sit in the living room. “Come and help my poor old and boring soul!! ” Don’t worry bathroom I’m coming soon. Lastly, we have our bedroom that I haven’t even began to touch. I have ideas ready to go but it’s definitely not going to get finished for a few more months.
My own personal grade: B+…..We have made progress but I’ve gots a few more things to do.
Those were my main three resolutions for the year. There are always things I try to work on throughout the year but these are definite ones for 2015. At the end of February or March I’ll complete another checkup and see if I’m making any progress. Definitely helps keep me accountable. Hope you are all sticking to your guns with your resolutions as well. If you have fallen off the wagon don’t worry…..there’s 11 months to get back on and finish what you started. Happy Resoluting and Happy Friday, Friends!!!
