I just wanted to take a quick moment to share some of my favorite products that I use almost every day ranging from kitchen appliances, beauty products to apps. Me and my husband are notorious for not buying anything without reading reviews so figured I would do my part in recommending things that I like. These are just my own opinions and things that work for me, my family and our schedules.
First let me talk about my top 3 favorite apps. They are the 3 I use most often and 2/3 are FREE which is excellent! (at least they were free at time of my purchase)
The first one is the camera app….
This app is similar to instragram (which I also love) but it has a lot more editing options and you can add lots of different borders and play around with correcting lighting and shadows on your picture. Photography is a huge hobby of mine and sometimes it’s just not logical to take my nice SLR camera with me. Having this many editing and photo options on my camera phone is pretty awesome and I definitely get my use out of it. If you love to take pictures and want an easy and fast editing app then this one is for you!
Second one I like is the 5K app.
It’s similar to the couch to 5k program everyone talks about. I am currently midway through week 3 and it’s really awesome. You push play when you are ready to begin and voice prompts come over the headphones telling you to run/walk and stop/go. It completely distracts me from looking at the time and focusing on how long the workout is taking. I can zone out listen to my music and just wait for the prompts. It’s kind of like having a personal trainer minus the yelling! They also have apps for 10K and above if you’re a little more experienced runner. This app only cost $1.99 but you can try the first week or so free just to make sure you like it before buying. Definitely a must if you are looking to get back into shape slowly and safely.
My 3rd favorite app is more for my kids than me but they absolutely love games and these are their favorites.
These games are very similar as far as the game play goes. They are both running and avoiding hurdles and objects while collecting coins and points. Subway surfer is a little bit easier than temple run because you just use finger swipes. Temple Run is slightly more challenging because you use both finger swipes and have to move the iphone or ipad back and forth. Both of my boys do awesome on these games and it definitely keeps them entertained.
Next up….my favorite kitchen products.
My husband does most of the cooking in our house but I have two favorite tools.
The first one is our cast iron skillet….
If you buy one of these you will never have to buy another skillet again. They are so versatile and you never have to worry about nonstick coating flaking off or ruining. The care is pretty simple. Just rinse off after each use and spray a little bit of oil on it to cure it. They start at about $45 but they are so worth it. Considering it’s a staple in the kitchen and probably the most used product it’s worth the expense and in the end is costing pennies every time you use it. The other upside is that every time you cook with this skillet you get a little bit of iron in your food. This is great for vegetarians and really anyone in general. These can be found online or at any store. Many times they are located in the outdoor section since they are used for camping.
My next favorite kitchen item is our KEURIG
I am IN LOVE with this appliance. It’s probably the most expensive appliance we have ever bought but it was worth it. No mess, quick preparation and you can cook anything from coffee to hot chocolate to tea to just plain hot water. It’s amazing. This would be super convenient for those who have a lot of company too. Hardly anyone ever drinks the same stuff and this makes switching out types of beverages super easy and convenient. Just be warned everything is SUPER HOT when it gets done so make sure the kiddos don’t reach up and grab. Ouch!!!
One random thing I am glad I found is the new TIDE pods
These little guys are pretty cool. They are like a 3 in one complete with the stain release, detergent and fabric softener. Just throw the pod in the washer, run the water for a few seconds, add the clothes and voila! The clothes come out smelling fantastic and they aren’t staticy and very soft. The best part is there is no mess. I hate how whenever you would pour liquid laundry detergent in the wash it would make a mess all over the cap and run down the bottle and then end up in the cabinet. Yea that’s gross and one more thing I don’t have time to clean. Thankfully, tide pods have come to my rescue. Super quick and super easy. A lifesaver for all busy moms!!
Beauty products I’m loving right now….
These are my top 3 products I use every day. I just started using this shampoo and conditioner since my salon switched over to joico products. It leaves my hair so shiny and smooth and preserves the color better than any drugstore shampoo and conditioner I have tried. Plus, one bottle lasts a long time considering you don’t need very much for one use. Jergens glow is as good as all the rage. It is moisturizing and it doesn’t leave gross Snooki orange streaks. The only negative I have to say is it does smell like a regular self tanner. They all smell pretty gross so I guess this just comes with the territory. Lastly, I wear hawaiin tropic sunscreen every day, even in the winter time. They came out with a new moisturizing sunscreen this year which is similar to a lotion. Sunscreen tends to get chalky and can leave the skin dry so this is super nice to have a dual use. Definitely keeps my skin hydrated while providing ample sun protection. Take that skin cancer!! 🙂
Another kitchen/beauty product that I love is honey
Besides tasting delicious, honey has a lot of beauty purposes. I love to use it on my face whether as a part of a facial mask or alone. Honey is incredibly moisturizing so its a definite must for anyone with dry skin. However, oily skin girls, have no fear it won’t make your skin more oily. I have that skin type and it’s very refreshing and cleansing, especially after using harsh products on my skin all day. You can also mix it with sugar and use it on your lips to remove dry skin cells. Mix a small amount together, exfoliate the lips for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and then wipe off. It can also be used to moisturize cuticles before a manicure or pedicure. (olive oil works as well) Buy some honey….it’s awesome stuff!!
These are just a few of my favorite products and the ones I would highly recommend to anyone. Hopefully you gained something useful out of this list!! 🙂
Happy shopping and spending money…….
