It was a busy weekend here for us but a weekend where we only had to work for 3 hours is a definitely GREAT weekend in my book. We honestly have forgotten what it’s like to have time off and often sit here wondering what in the world people do with all this time in their life. I will never, ever, ever, ever complain about weekends being too short ever again.
Mason’s birthday isn’t until this Wednesday but we decided to do his birthday party on Saturday. We combined a few different themes and mashed them all together in one night. We had a birthday/fall/halloween party and at the very last minute (and I mean like 2 hours before) decided to throw in a little gender reveal. So it really was like a party mash-up. I’m sure there is a song for that somewhere. Haha! The whole party was outdoors which was super nice since the weather was perfect and it allowed the kiddos to run around and the adults to enjoy a fire and conversation.
I made two types of chili, some homemade mac and cheese for the littles and roasted marshmallows for s’mores for dessert. We made a fire pit this week and it actually turned out really nice. I see some more evenings by the fire in the next month or so. It’s one of those things that you think will be complicated to put in the yard but totally isn’t. The kids enjoyed some glow sticks after the sun went down and fun was had by everyone.
We had a secret ultrasound on Friday morning at 15 weeks and 2 days. Me and Jared wanted to do something a little different this pregnancy since it’s out last so we decided to do an early one just for fun. We had no intention of announcing gender or even telling anyone about this ultrasound until we had completed the one with my doctor scheduled for November 3rd. However, the gender was obvious so I don’t think we will have a switch up in 2 weeks and everyone was already at the house so we thought it would be a fun surprise since no one had any idea. I had some cool ideas for gender reveal ideas but since we literally made the decision 2 hours before party time I was unable to gather all the supplies I needed for my ideas. So the hubs ran to the store and grabbed the only thing that was accessible. Silly String. The boys got to spray us and all was revealed.
I’m not sure anyone was truly surprised although Jared was a bit surprised after our ultrasound. I think he was really rooting for a girl. He loves his boys and was thrilled for another but I know he wanted a girl for me and honestly deep down I think he wanted to see what having a daughter would be like. I am honestly not really sad about it like I thought I would be. I think I just knew it was going to be a boy even if my brain refused to acknowledge it. It’s like my intuition just knew so as soon as we saw his little boy parts (about 5 seconds in) it’s like I just felt really at peace. Like I already knew. Hard to describe but when you see your baby it’s amazing how gender just doesn’t even matter. He’s healthy and perfect and moving around and he has really long legs and the cutest little nose so what could I possibly be disappointed about. Plus, the boys are happy….minus Mason who deep down wanted a girl even if he didn’t admit it before. He’ll get over it real quick I’m sure.
I’m still looking forward to our ultrasound with my doctor since it will be fun to see how much growth he has in the next couple of weeks. Plus, she will do measurements and verify everything health wise. I don’t suspect any change but we will have them check gender too just to make sure.
Hoping you all had really great weekends enjoying some beautiful weather and soaking up these last few weeks of fall before the snow and chilly temps arrive to stay.
