Hey, friends! I just finished the Ultimate Reset and wanted to do a very quick summary of my experience. I was sooo nervous to try this because I had no idea what to expect and wasn’t sure I could stick with it.However, it went so smoothly and was A LOT easier than I expected. In a nutshell this reset is about healing your body, balancing hormones, removing acidity, getting rid of toxins and expelling your body of all the harmful things you have done to it over the years. It’s gently removes unwanted pesticides and literally heals you from the inside out…all with just food. This is not a starvation diet, this isn’t a juice cleanse, this isn’t some drink a shake and then eat food and gain everything back. Exercise isn’t encouraged on this diet because of the amount of energy your body is expelling to balance out everything so keep in mind my results are just from eating.
I embarked on this journey in hopes of balancing out my hormones after having Boden in April and my miscarriage in July. My body has been through so much this year and I knew things were not healing properly. This program succeeded in every sense of the word and I am sooooo happy and thankful and know my body needed this so much. So without further ado here is my week to week breakdown.
Summary: In week one you are phasing out dairy and meat. You have eggs and fish and then eliminate them completely after day 4. The only dairy is plain yogurt and after week 1 is also eliminated. The purpose of this week is to prepare your body for the detox and releasing of toxins taking place in week 2.
Weight lost: I lost 5 pounds in week 1 which was amazing. I lost 3 in the first 2 days because it was water weight and I was drinking a gallon of water a day. I also lost .7% body fat this week and gained .6% muscle.
Symptoms: The first day I had a horrible headache, mostly from no caffeine. I didn’t wean myself down prior so it was a bit of a shock. Besides coffee I don’t get too much caffeine so I didn’t think it would be too bad but it was. The second day my headache was gone but I had some achey muscles. My legs felt very achy, almost like I had the flu. This lasted for 3 days before dissappearing. Sleep was weird since I tossed and turned all night long for 4 nights straight but I oddly didn’t feel that tired during the day. Day 6 was the roughest as I was grumpy (for no reason) and just angry I couldn’t have pop tarts or coffee. Day 7 I felt much better.
Favorite Foods: The farina was really good and tasted just like cream of wheat. I also liked the Nori Roll, which was really more of a Nori plate since it fell apart when I rolled it up. I also oddly enjoyed the spinach with my eggs an toast for breakfast. Who would have thought? And the root medley and stir fry veggies were the bomb.
Summary: In week two you are focused on a strict vegan diet with fruits, veggies and whole grains. By the end of the week you have eliminated all grains and are just strictly eating fruits and veggies. You also add in a detox supplement that is taken 3 times per day that is a healthy and very gentle cleanse.
Weight lost: I lost 3 pounds this week and continued to lose body fat and gain muscle with NO EXERCISE.
Symptoms: Many people talk about how they have a “release” this week which may be in the form of a physical release or an emotional one. Many people have reported crying for no reason and just feeling really sad. I was waiting for something like that to happen but didn’t have any symptoms. YAY!!! I will say I was really hangry and grumpy again on Saturday which would have been day 13. There is something about the 2nd to last day of each phase that has me really moody and irritable. It’s been really interesting. I have no more headaches and just experienced some minor bloating this week due to the amount of fiber and grains.
Favorite Foods: I’m in love with a pinto beans and rice recipe I tried. The smoked paprika is amazing!!! I will definitely be adding that into my normal rotation. Also, I had a sweet potato and red pepper bisque soup this week that was really yummy as well. Seriously, the food has been great. Minus salad. If I eat another salad I will literally puke.
Summary: Week 3 is by far the hardest week. It is just fruit and veggies. No grains, no protein, no nothing. Protein is hard on the body to digest so the point is to give your body very simple clean foods to build up the healthy bacteria in your gut and finish out the full body balance of hormones etc. You eat a huge plate of fruit for breakfast every single day and then have a variety of veggies the rest of the day. There is also a new supplement this week called restore and you take it 3 times per day.
Weight lost: This week I lost 3 more pounds and dropped more body fat and gained more muscle. Again, with NO EXERCISE.
Symptoms: My biggest symptom was hunger. I was not hungry on this reset at all until this week. Right before dinner and late at night I would be super hungry. Most nights I just went to bed early so I wouldn’t think about it and that worked just fine. However, I also really just tried to ignore it because I think in many ways I was just bored or feeling like I needed a snack instead of really needing one, if that makes sense.
Favorite Foods: This week I didn’t have a whole lot of new stuff but I enjoyed the collards, kale and even some fennel.
So in 21 days
I lost 11 pounds
I lost 2.5% body fat
I lost 19.5 inches
I gained 1% muscle
My Non Scale Victories Include:
More energy (I haven’t hit snooze in 3 weeks)
My skin is sooo much better
My hair is longer
I sleep soooo good. No more tossing and turning and waking up (unless baby cries)
My hormones are leveled out
No mood swings
I am sooooo beyond happy I did this program. I am proud of myself for doing the 21 days and not cheating a single time. It was definitely one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done but not THE most challenging. When I set my mind to something I find I can complete it rather effortlessly and am so glad I set my mind to do this and invested in myself. I am not having any cravings for any junk food or bad foods and am fully prepared to keep eating vegan as long as I can. The only thing I miss is coffee but not because of energy, just rather I like the taste. I will slowly add coffee back in, as my body allows, but will not be binging on KFC anytime soon. Don’t ever be afraid to do something scary. I promise you it’s worth it and gives you so much more than what you think it will.
If you have any questions about this reset or in general feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to help!!!
