Mothers Day always seems to creep up on me every year and this time was no exception. It’s something about being in May when things are just crazy with the end of school and summer approaching. Plus, this year I’ve been a little distracted by a huge belly, endless Braxton Hicks contractions and baby brain in general. Anyways, I was really looking forward to a day with the kiddos and some hopeful rest and relaxation. Plus, I wanted to turn the computer off, step away from our home business and just enjoy a rare day off. (No this didn’t exactly happen as I did put in a full hour or work….but that’s okay).
I slept awful the night before so my visions and dreams of sleeping in and getting a lot of much needed rest were pretty shattered. I was able to catch an extra hour once my husband got up due to just pure exhaustion but I haven’t slept well in months so it wasn’t anything too surprising. I got up to a bunch of cards and handwritten/drawn notes that were just too cute. Some of the highlights that I had in my cards were that I “am the best mom ever” “I always smell like pink roses” and of course the best one “I love you.” They were absolutely precious and the boys were sooo excited to give them to me. It’s moments like those that truly make all the difficult mom moments completely 100% worth it.
The boys really wanted to go fishing with dad but they were very worried about me being home by myself on Mom’s Day. I assured them that it was a beautiful day to go and they should. Besides, I was secretly hoping for a nap so thought it would work out perfectly. So off they went for about 1.5 hours to hit up the fishing hole. Unfortunately, for me I got distracted catching up on my final 2 Greys Anatomy episodes and was just about to nap when they pulled in the driveway. Serves me right. haha! They didn’t have much luck with the fish but we ate a good dinner and spent the rest of the night playing basketball, being goofy and the kids got to take turns riding on the mower with dad cutting the grass. All in all it was a really nice day and I definitely felt refreshed and relaxed afterwards. Can’t believe next Mothers Day I’ll have 3 little guys toddling around. Man, how time flies by. Here is a few highlights from our day. I was unable to get a picture of all three of us together since we got distracted with the outdoor shenanigans. Hopefully, soon since I want to get one before Gavin gets here.
These are of me and Mason having a moment of snuggle time. He loves to feel and watch my belly and is just soooo excited for “this baby to come out.”
And here are some goofy moments complete with some Spiderman sunglasses. How cool are these???
