We have had a party filled weekend and start to the week around here. Logan turned 8 on Monday and I swear I had some wrinkles appear that exact morning. Perhaps, it’s a sign I’m aging ever so quickly as my first baby is quickly turning into a tween. Oh Venus….help me now!!
All the festivities started off on Saturday night with his Lego themed birthday party. He wanted just a small group of people so that we could play games and have a more “intimate” setting. So a few family members came and we snacked on homemade cheddar broccoli soup and creamy tomato tortellini soup for dinner. Desserts included andes mint brownies, butterfingers cream cheese mousse and baked s’mores. (The s’mores were flipping AMAZING)
Since the boys love having themes and “dressing up” I took the easy route again this party and made custom t-shirts. I figured a year off from full fledge costumes was acceptable, right? I made these in an hour flat and was pleased with how they turned out. I just wish I had gotten brighter and lighter colors so the images were a bit more easy to see….but live and learn! (Pardon the really crappy picture quality and hideous lighting)
Logan got lots of great and useful gifts and has been reading, drawing and wearing his pi’s around proudly ever since. Overall, the party was a success and it ended in a small card game to end the night before the ‘not so little’ man had to go to bed.
Sunday, was a typical football/working/party hangover day. My bestie came over that afternoon to watch the Broncos/Chargers game and brought the boys gingerbread cookies and icing. I was fearing a giant mess but surprisingly they did rather well. Of course, yesterday I did discover icing dripping all over the chair and onto the floor. Guess I should always look down before assessing messes or not. Haha!
Monday was Logan’s actual birthday and after school he requested some breakfast for dinner and a fun game of Cranium Cadoo. It was fun and even though it’s for kids it stumped us parents a bit too. I survived the day without having any meltdowns about him turning 8….victory for me. But really? Where has the time gone???
Last night we went out for his birthday since Monday nights are crazy around here. He requested breakfast for dinner, again, (I’m seeing a pattern here) and so we headed off to Village Inn for some pancakes. We then watched Guardians of the Galaxy at the movies. Yes, we are a little late to the whole summer blockbuster party. The movie was great and I think the boys were all partied out by the time we got home. Me and Jared were up until 2 working so I think we are also suffering from serious party exhaustion!
Now onto our family Christmas on Monday with my family and then actual Christmas. Looking forward to a day of doing absolutely nothing but opening presents, stuffing our faces and lounging around in pajamas. Oh man….what a treat that is going to be! Hope you all had great weekends and are ready for Christmas!!
