Mornings around here can sometimes be hectic and it sometimes takes until noon before I am able to grab a shower. We traded in school chaos for newborn chaos. Both are equally interesting, memorable and can be fun. Of course I wouldn’t trade them for the world but sometimes we just throw the whole routine out the window and decide to make our mornings crazy fun. Nothing like a fun morning to set the mood for the rest of the day.
Since we own our business and work from home we usually don’t ever get a full day off. Therefore, even the precious weekends are not entirely our own. However, I do try to spend a little more time with the kids on the weekends and make them as fun as we can so they will forgive us for having to work on their time off.
This past weekend we all decided that busting a move was in order. Considering I went 9 months hardly being able to walk, I figured it was about time this body busted some sort of move. My moves are pretty pathetic and mainly consisted of me bouncing the baby up and down in a dance like motion but hey we had a blast. We turned up some Pandora and went between the disney station, pop dance, kids dance and some good ole 90s music. I was able to educate the boys on Will Smith, Vanilla Ice, Backstreet Boys, Nsync and all the greats of my time. Even though I blast this music quite often they seem to “forget” that they have ever heard these songs. I think they just think it’s “Mom’s old music” so they choose not to pay attention. Already rotten at 7 and 5 years of age.
So there we were breaking it down to Ice, Ice, Baby and Wild Wild West while Gavin was just smiling away. The kid loves to dance apparently. All three of my boys definitely have moves and I only wish I could say they got it from me. I am a horrible dancer and am about as fluid as a goat. However, my husband can make any move look good and randomly combusts into dance on many occasions. All that sexy break-dancing definitely made me marry him, for sure. Haha
I did get some work done that afternoon but I was in my pajamas until nearly noon, had spit up all over me, and my hair was a wreck but I got to enjoy my morning coffee and watch my kids dance around the living room full of giggles and goofiness. When the kids are all grown and out of the house I know I’ll be able to sit here and hear the echo of all our laughs from all these fun mornings we are sure to have.
Hope you all take the time out of your busy schedules to enjoy the simple things in life. Those are the times you will always cherish!! Cheers to 90’s music, dancing shoes (or bare feet) and laughter!!
