Time for an update since lots of things have been going on.
We have had quite a few school activities the past few weeks which have added some extra spice to the newborn days. Logan’s class participated in a “Living Wax Museum” that they had been working on for months. He was Peyton Manning (surprise, surprise) and did tons of research for the part. All the kids had a background complete with essays, timelines, pictures and other fun facts about their person. The people ranged from Leonardo DaVinci to Elvis Presley to Jerry Rice to Taylor Swift. There was quite the variety of people. All the kids dressed in costume of their person and were frozen as “wax” in front of their stations. As parents we walked around and clicked the button (a sticker on their hand) and they rattled off a memorized piece of info about their person before freezing again. It really was the cutest thing and I was super impressed by all the work the kids had done. Some were just so adorable it was hard not to laugh and walk around saying “awwwww.” However, these are 3rd graders so we wouldn’t want to cramp their style. 😉
Mason had a patriotic program two weeks ago in which they do a salute to america, so to speak. It’s an hour of patriotic songs and they pay homage to our veterans. Logan completed the program when he was in first grade so it was fun to see Mason get his chance. He was chosen to play the part of Uncle Sam and thankfully Boden lasted long enough for me to see him do his part. I missed the last two songs since the baby was hungry and the toddler had had his fill with patriotism. It was a great program though and the kids did a wonderful job. I’m pretty sure Mason made the cutest Uncle Sam ever.
Gavin is his usual self and has quite the expanding vocabulary as of late. He also is hitting the terrible two stage which is sure to give me a few grey hairs. Someone realized he would like to be fiercely independent and does not like to be told ‘no.’ We are also learning how to share and how to not scream at the top of our lungs while we are playing. Although, the brothers get home and 4 hours of intense wrestling and beating each other up ensues so not sure any of my “teaching” is doing any good. Sigh, boys will be boys I suppose. I can’t believe he will be 2 at the end of this month and am desperately trying to soak up my moments with him as well since they really do go by so fast.
Boden is a month old now and you can see a full update on him in my last post. He is changing so much and is looking very much like his brothers. Every day he seems to resemble a different one of them but currently he is looking a lot like Logan at that age. I’m excited for him to have his first summer and dip his little toes in the pool and get to enjoy all the fun stuff that comes with sunshine and blue skies.
We are in the middle of re-doing our deck so are knee deep in color choices, design and build. We are hoping to have it all done this week so we can get back to work and actually enjoy the back porch without feeling like we may fall through to our death at any moment. It’s a wonder we haven’t had any serious injuries once we started ripping things up and seeing just how deteriorated things were. Scary for sure. I’m pretty sure this is going to stroke the fire to continue some much needed indoor projects but only time will tell if we actually accomplish those or not. In the meantime I’m looking forward to lots of fun BBQ’s on the deck this summer.
As for me and Jared, we are just doing our thing. We have lots of changes happening and business decisions to make but we are excited for the future. We have learned so much over the past 2 years of this business and while sometimes change and making ends meet can be overwhelming and exhausting, it’s always worth it. We make a great team and we know that with enough hard work anything is possible so we are taking that knowledge and trying to find balance in our upcoming adventures. I also have some personal projects that are in the wings in which I’m contemplating bringing center stage. I have a bad habit of overwhelming myself with too much on my plate so I’m trying to make the best decision for myself and my family right now. If it’s not the right time then they’ll keep until life slows down a bit – or rather I’m getting a good 6 hours of sleep. 😉 You know the Harris’ always changing, adapting and keeping it fresh. hahahaha
Other than that we have been busy with doctor appointments, MAP testing, field trips and prepping for summer time. The kids only have 2 weeks of school left and then we will have a long summer. There was no snow this year so we are actually getting out in the middle of May which hasn’t happened in a while. I always enjoy the summer but it’s definitely going to be interesting having all 4 boys home all day every day. Lots of swimming, popsicles and “take your kids to work” days in our future.
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the spring weather wherever you are!
