Height/Weight: 31 inches and 25.4 pounds. He has finally slowed down in the weight department with all of his new found mobility (more on that later) but is still getting taller and taller. His height is crazyville.
Routine: Our routine hasn’t changed much in the past few months. Still takes a morning nap from around 9-11 and another at about 2:00. Bedtime is still around 7:00 and somedays it’s a firm 6:00. (You fellow mommas understand)
Sleeping: We are sleeping through the night….NOT! He still wakes up one to two times a night which is terribly exhausting. I’ve tried everything under the sun (like I did with the other two) however, my boys seemed to be programmed to not sleep through the night until they are a year old. This is the third time this has happened so I can’t say I’m terribly surprised. I do look forward to a good nights sleep, though. Don’t get me wrong, he is super easy to get up with since I can just feed him and he goes right back to sleep once I lay him back down and has been smothered in kisses. BUT I would rather not get up in the middle of my dreams of beaches and sunshine.
Eating/Feeding: He is eating tons of “solids” at this point. With only one tooth it’s a little harder to advance him to other bigger foods but we are getting there. He can eat chunks of bananas now and sometimes some chunks of soft carrots…if he is feeling up for it. He is starting to not enjoy veggies as much all of a sudden. He will gobble down any fruit or oatmeal but then has been giving us some interesting facial expressions whenever vegetables hit his tongue. I just keep shoving until he decides there is no getting out of it but it’s pretty funny. Other than that he is a growing and chunky little man….as evident by the size of his thighs.
Sizes: This kid is literally in 24 month clothes and size 5 diapers. I’m worried I’m not going to be able to keep him in diapers long so early potty training might be happening this summer….If I’m lucky. Clothes are getting impossible. I feel like I’m going to go broke just keeping the kid clothed. He is advancing and going through sizes at a rapid pace. He hates shoes and just kicks them off and is also becoming more aware of hats and things on his head. They don’t last long.
Milestones: We have a
crawler scooter who is quite mobile. I think he has decided that there is no purpose in doing the all 4’s dance. He propels himself across the room on his booty quite quickly and it’s hilarious to watch. He can be on all fours but gets bored with it and drops back down to a sitting position. He has also shown more interest in trying to pull himself into a standing position. I think he may just do his own version of crawling scooting and then go straight to walking. At least for now he seems content with his mobility. I’m pretty sure I’ll lose 10 pounds just by getting up and down to keep things out of his mouth and in his way. There is no such thing as 100% baby proofing when you have a mobile youngster.
Favorite Toys: Blocks, stuffed animals, rattles, books and he still likes his teething toys. He also loves paper, shoes, plants and dirty socks…all things he isn’t supposed to have but somehow finds. With his new found mobility he is really enjoying exploring and feeling different textures and objects. Amazing the world that opens up when you can move.
Favorite Moment: I blame sleep deprivation for even saying this but my favorite moment is in the middle of the night when I put him back to bed after giving him his bottle and he just smiles and his eyes light up when he sees me. It doesn’t matter how foggy or mad I am at 3:00 in the morning it melts my heart. The amount of love radiating off his face is indescribable. Such sweet moments I’ll always cherish.
Spring Break is next week so we are hoping this little 9 month old will get his first theme park adventure. I may even sneak him on a roller coaster for a thrill. That’s allowed right? 😉
