Height/Weight: 23 pounds and 30 inches long. Still in the 95% for height and weight. He is going to be another tall boy!
Routine: Still on a great routine. Takes 2-3 naps per day and eats every 4-6 hours. In between he is playing, smiling and exploring the world.
Sleeping: Still not sleeping through the night. I don’t know whether to chalk this up to “he just isn’t sleeping through the night” or if it’s because of all the sickness and teething we have been experiencing in the house. I’m thinking the latter. I also haven’t really been able to let him “cry it out” because he has had a cough and has been sick. So it’s not really the greatest time for all that. Hopefully we both get some shut eye in the VERY near future.
Eating/Feeding: Still eating like a champ. Should be able to get rid of formula here in about 3 months which is super exciting. He is obsessed with all fruits and veggies and is loving the baby food combinations as well. We didn’t try as many stage 3 foods as I wanted to this month so we will start moving in that direction here really soon. He has about 8 oz of formula every 6 hours to top off the baby food and rice/oatmeal cereal.
Sizes: Still in size 4 diapers although I bought 2 more big boxes the other day (because they were on mega sale) and I think I’m going to return one of them because I’m sure he will have moved to size 5 by then. He is also advancing way beyond his age in clothing. We are now in 12-18 month clothes with 18 month being preferred. A lot of his 12 month outfits are too little and he can barely squeeze into them. (Yup, he is only 7 months old) He is too tall for most of the clothes and even though he is thinning out still has a hard time getting them over his head and keeping them comfortable.
Milestones: He found his feet which is one of my favorite milestones. Nothing cuter than a baby grabbing for their feet when you go to change their diaper. He has also re-discovered his tongue, although, I’m not sure he ever lost it. He loves to stick it out and lick his face or whatever else he can discover to do with it. It’s pretty hilarious. This month also brought the month of pre-crawling prep. He tries to get up on his knees but then fatigues pretty quick so decides to just roll wherever he is going. He has completely mastered sitting up so I can officially leave him and walk away without worrying he will crash…..although I still don’t do this often because of principle. Still no teeth but hopefully they are still planning on appearing some day soon.
Favorite Toys: He got lots of toys for Christmas so is loving his walking toys and light up balls and phones. He is also a big fan of anything soft and chewy due to the teething fun. Stuffed animals and blankets continue to be his friend when he is ready for sleep and he loves the soft feel on his skin. Still a big fan of music of all types and it instantly soothes him.
Favorite Moment: December 9th would have been my mother n laws 57th birthday. That morning the boys wished her a happy birthday and after the got on the bus Gavin grabbed for one of her pictures. I handed it to him and he instantly started babbling and coo-ing and kissed her face on the picture. He then just put it in his lap and stared. It may have been the sweetest moment I have ever seen or caught on camera. He has always been like that with her pictures since he was just a tiny baby. When he was just a few weeks old he started smiling at her high school picture in our bedroom. I have always worried how it would be to have a child who had never met her but I swear she has found a way to connect with him and he to her. He knows who his ZZ is and I should have known to never ever worry. She has a way of making her presence known …..and we always hear her.
Here are a few photos to capture the month that was:
He LOVES bathtime!
I ate my first real whole banana!
And my first sugar cookie!! Thumbs up!
No monthly update is complete without rolls!
