First, let me say that I know this is terribly late since he is now 3 weeks into 4 months old. But hey as long as I get it posted in the 4 month window I can still be considered Super Mom right? As I say every month…and will likely continue to say….Gavin is growing too fast for my liking and is changing EVERY SINGLE DAY! You would think that by the time you get to your third offspring you would be used to the changes and the fast things but you never every get used to it. I’m desperately trying to soak up every moment but when they come and go so quickly it can certainly be hard to do. However, changes aren’t bad, just bittersweet, and I fall more in love with him every day…..like I continue to do with my other two! So without further motherhood sappiness here are his stats for month 4:
Height/Weight: 20 pounds and 27 3/4 inches long. He grew almost 4 inches in 2 months!! He is going to be so tall!!
Routine: We are in a great routine now that is very easy going and chill…..which is much to my delight. He has gotten so much easier with his demands and now knows what to expect when…..as do I. Happy Baby…Happy Mommy!
Sleeping: Mostly sleeping through the night about 5 nights per week. We will still get up once on a couple nights but with a feeding he is quickly and easily put back to sleep. I pretty much do it all while sleepwalking so I don’t really remember or notice much that I had to get up. Is this safe? I dunno.
Eating/Feeding: We started cereal at 3 months and it went really well. Now he is eating baby foods like a champ. His favorite are bananas and he appears to be a sweet potato lover like his momma. In close second are carrots and apples. He eats like he has been using a spoon his whole life and while messy almost prefers the baby food and cereal to the formula. His pediatrician expects him to be on table foods by 7-9 months since he has a brood of other people to watch around here. He definitely hits milestones pretty quick considering all the observing he gets to do. I will likely start some stage 2 foods at about 5 months and see how he likes that. Save money on formula? Yes, I think so!
Sizes: He is in size 3 diapers where I hope we can stay for a little while. He is wearing some 6 month stuff but a lot more 9 month things. We are finally cooling down here so we are able to wear our pants and hoodies and other warm outfits before he grows out of them. Since he is so tall he has a hard time staying in clothes for long. Course those chunky rolls don’t help much either. 😉 They’re just soooo darn cute!
Milestones: Talking still and laughing all the time. He is not rolling over which is a little strange but he just wants to sit and stand so bad that he doesn’t have time for those baby things like rolling over. I mean, come on Mom! His pediatrician isn’t worried and said he may skip rolling over all together. I still do a lot of tummy time but it’s not his favorite and he wants to just pull himself up to sit and look at the world. He has to be supported to sit but his head control is amazing and he hardly ever bobbles or loses his balance. He has only even attempted rolling over a few times so we will see if that changes or not. He has also discovered his feet and loves to watch them. Hasn’t tried to grab them yet but it’s a coming. You can only resist those little toes for so long. His hand to mouth coordination is spot on and he can now pick up and bring toys to his mouth. He even tries to hold the bottle on his own and is successful when it’s not very full. I’m sure there are a ton more things he has done that I’m forgetting about but you get the idea!
Favorite Toys: He still loves Sophie the giraffe and likes to be in his gumbo (as Mason calls the bumbo) or little walker. I know that walkers are so 1982 but I found one for cheap and since he likes to stand so much it allows me to be able to put him down while I get some work done. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. I have no intention to use it for when he is learning how to walk….just for now while he is still so little. He also likes his monkey rings and really anything that he can put in his mouth. His blanket is his favorite hideout toy since he insists on pulling it over his head to sleep. That is the only way he will sleep but then FREAKS OUT if he can’t figure out how to get it off. He goes from just fine to hysteria in about .4 seconds. Its pretty hilarious….not gonna lie. I used to worry he was going to suffocate but no matter what I do he finds a way to cocoon himself so I just make sure it’s a very light knitted blanket that has holes so he can breathe.
Favorite Moment: When we went to get his 4 month vaccines and wellness check up he was so delighted to see our pediatrician. He just laughed and squealed the whole time and you would have thought he was in heaven. He handled the shots like a champ and hardly uttered a peep. The shots were not my favorite but watching him interact with other people and seeing how delighted he is with others is really fun to watch.
These little rolls are my latest obsession. So kissable!!
