Height/Weight: He is my biggest boy yet…..which is shocking considering Logan is like the Amazon man! Where did these children get their height??
Personality: As I’ve described many times on this blog, Gavin is my little firecracker. We call him Mr Destructo, Little Hulk, Manic Monster and a whole host of other things. He is EVERYWHERE and into EVERYTHING. Due to his height this definitely makes things even more difficult since he can reach up and grab everything. Usually, by the time kids are that tall they are somewhat out of the grab everything – spill it all over the floor-and repeat-routine. Nope not Gavin. He is very much in the curious toddler stage so nothing is off limits. If he wants it he will find a way and will find a way so fast you won’t even be able to fill a glass of water before he is hanging from the ceiling, quite literally. With the crazy comes the sweetest personality, however. He is the funniest kid to date and we’ve had some funny kids. He is literally a clown and enjoys every single bit of attention he gets…..and boy does he get it. He likes to cuddle and be silly and is just a big ball of never-ending energy. He’s the sweetest – even when he learns how to drop his diaper and give everyone a show.
Milestones: He now runs and can do stairs…holding my hand going down….uses a spoon (when he feels like it) and can drink out of a cup (preferably with a lid). He can climb onto EVERYTHING, is so tall he can reach onto the countertops and often loves to superman on the couches. Nothing is safe from this little Hulk. His favorite activity is dancing. He will dance to anything and everything…even those coffee commercials that have the music playing in the background. If there’s music he jumps on the floor, throws his fist in the air and starts bopping to the beat. I picture the Magic Mike of high school in my future and am not sure how I feel about that. Watch out ladies! I may attempt some dance lessons someday but he has to be at least 2. Every little boy should learn a little hip hop action, right? 😉 Both him and Mason got their moves from their daddy. While I can dance and pick up on choreography very easily, I won’t be caught dead dancing in any public setting whatsoever. Tell me to freestyle something and I’d rather poke my eyeballs out with a steak knife. Don’t ask me why….I’ve just always been like that.
Sleep: He sleeps really well. Bedtime is about 7-7:30 and he will wake up around 6:30 and just play in his crib until about 7:00 or 7:30. He very much likes his ‘me’ time in the morning and does not like to be taken out of his crib too soon. He wants to dance and jump in his bed and listen to his music before getting out and facing the world. During the day he takes a solid 2 hour afternoon nap but has been only lasting an hour this week. I’m hoping he isn’t dwindling that down quite yet. A good 2 hours has been my absolute lifesaver around here with work and all the house stuff I need to get done throughout the week. Here’s to hoping it’s a fluke.
Favorite Words: He babbles all the time and speaks a language only he can truly understand. The kid never stops talking but as far as actual words, they are limited at the moment. He can say ‘mama’ ‘dada’ ‘baby’ ‘pretty’ ‘elsa’ ‘belbo (which is Elmo)’ ‘baboy (which is football)’ ‘uh-oh’ ‘whoa’ and a few others I’m likely forgetting. While talking, he always uses his hands and has very dramatic expressions. It really is funny to watch. I think he will be adding many, many words here in the next month or so. The endless understandable chatter is coming!
Favorite Foods: He HATES vegetables to let’s just get that out of the way. He was never too fond of them in baby food form either but now he just really hates them. I still feed them to him in hopes some day he will fall in love but so far not so much. He does like fruit and would eat that all day, every day if I let him. He also likes chicken, applesauce, granola bars, goldfish, cereal, waffles, yogurt, cheese and pretty much every other food on the planet. His preference for food is to eat it off the floor after he has spilled his plate or cross legged on the table now that he has discovered how to climb on top of it. He could sit and eat everyone under the table without even blinking. He doesn’t get the nickname Hulk for nothing. Bananas and waffles are his favorite food combo….chocolate chip waffles…obviously. 😉 (And yes sometimes we eat waffles and bananas on the couch in our jammies…..say what??)
Favorite Toys: He’s really getting into play-doh and crayons but also LOVES cars. Balls, stuffed animals and his Elmo and Elsa dolls also round out the list and pretty much anything the older two are doing….he’s doing too. He likes to watch football, Elmo and a few disney movies. Books are his favorite and I often find him in his rocking chair reading to himself in his Hulk language. Mostly, he just likes to play with all the things he isn’t supposed to…including vicks medicine, humidifiers, makeup brushes, toilets, paper towels, trash etc.
Seriously, Gavin Phoenix has done nothing but enriched our lives and made us more active. I have a hard time imagining what Baby Boy #4 will be like because I feel like we already have the 3 most perfect of personalities in our boys. I’m guessing he is going to be major chill because to compete with Gavin’s energy, Mason’s romantic side and Logan’s smarts…..chill it’s gonna have to be. Or maybe this is just momma’s wishful thinking so she doesn’t lock herself in the closet with a bottle of wine and never come out!! 😉
Thanks to all of you who have traveled on this motherhood journey with me and hope you enjoy watching my babes grow as much as I do.
