Height/Weight: 35 inches tall and 31 pounds in weight. He is starting to slim down although you wouldn’t be able to tell under all those rolls. He had a major growth spurt this month, growing 2 inches and gaining nearly 5 pounds!!
Routine: Our routine has changed slightly this month considering Gavin seems to have hit a spurt of independence. With this new drive to do everything on his own has come many frustrations for both mommy and baby since he wants to put everything in his mouth and I won’t allow such things. (the horror) Therefore, we have been leaving the house almost every morning after breakfast just to entertain him being out and about. This has allowed him and me less stress and then he will crash for a nap when we get home. I have had to change my work schedule to accommodate this so end up working later through the night but oh well….happy baby = happy momma!
Sleeping: He is pretty regularly sleeping through the night now…..Thank goodness! However, with that miracle has come trouble actually getting him to fall asleep. I have NEVER had difficulty with just putting him in his bed and he drifts off….until this past month. He refuses to fall asleep on his own and will just stand in there and cry for hours..literally. He is not the best at “crying it out” much to my dismay. So I’m hoping this is just another phase that he will soon be leaving once he realizes that sleep is pretty much “the best thing ever.”
Eating/Feeding: He is down to about 2-3 bottles of formula a day. He eats waffles or eggs and applesauce for breakfast, toast with butter and jelly with goldfish for lunch and pastas, rice, veggies and whatever else we are eating for dinner. He still loves his pumpkin teething biscuits, ritz crackers and bananas. We have also introduced him to cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese…all favorites. So none the less he is a pretty good eater….no surprise there.
Sizes: Still size 5 diapers although this is mainly because I haven’t used them all up to buy the size 6. I’m honestly really worried about this diaper thing because 6 is the highest size there is before pull ups and I’m just not willing to spend that kind of money….so early potty training might be happening in this house. As for clothes he is in about 2T -3T for summer clothes and size 6 shoe. His feet are huge. Talk about special sizing….I see those in my future for shoes as well. Eeeeek!!
Chitter Chatter: He LOVES to talk to anyone who is willing to listen. La-La is a new word he has discovered this month and a whole bunch of other syllables that come out as lknalkjdflkajsdflkjdlj.
Milestones: He is pulling himself up to standing on everything at this point and his balance improves every day. He will definitely be able to walk within the next month, however, with his laziness I’m not sure he will actually do it. He has always done everything at his own pace so I’m not holding my breath. Scooting is still his mobility of choice and while he tries the crawling thing he just doesn’t care. He is also finally holding his own bottle with much persuasion. For months and months I have been trying to get the kid to do this but he has literally refused. So once I pry his hands to the end of his bottle he will do it himself….otherwise he just doesn’t get fed. Haha. He also officially has 8 teeth with more popping in all the time.
Favorite Toys: He loves balls and water and anything that isn’t an official toy. His favorite thing is to eat rocks, sticks and dirt so getting him outside is an absolute nightmare because of all the natural elements he can devour. He also loves to play and chew on cords, shoes, socks and paper….he LOVES paper. I swear he is like a dog with this chewing preferences. It has definitely made my life extremely complicated since I can’t leave him out of sight to even pee or grab something from the other room. I feel like I need about 10 more eyeballs in order to keep this kid from choking or ending up with a lego in his belly. Sigh…
Favorite Moment: Earlier this month I went in to get him out of bed and he had pulled himself up to standing. He was standing there and smiling and laughing all proud of himself for being able to stand there and bounce up and down on his bed. As I was sitting there smiling and cooing at him he proceeds to get that leg over the rail and nearly fall out as I lunged to save him. The very cute and happy moment then ended with the mattress being moved down a couple notches. Whoops!!
