So this post is a bit late considering Hulk Man turned two a week ago but better late than never. Since the dude is OBSESSED with Sesame Street (mostly Cookie Monster, Big Bird, and Elmo – although Grover is making a comeback) so we decided to go with that theme for the party. The initial plan was to host it here so I bought lots of decor for the house only to realize that our deck wasn’t going to be finished (it’s a huge project) and so we didn’t really have anyway to entertain outdoors. Therefore, plan B was the local park and it worked out just fine, albeit it was super duper hot. We went ahead and hung up the decorations for the house anyway so he could enjoy them when he woke up and he was pretty excited.
We had a wall mural with all of his “friends” surrounding him and he about died when he saw that. Screams of “COOKIE!!! BIRD!!! ELMO!!!” rang all through the house. He then saw the rest of the fun hanging from lights and the ceiling and was the happiest kid on earth. Something about eating breakfast with his characters staring back at him that just filled his little heart.
We then opened a few gifts that I actually didn’t have time to wrap – and in all honesty they were all really strangely shaped so it would have been hard to wrap anyways. So what does one do? Grab plastic grocery bags and wrap it up and hand deliver. This is almost even embarrassing to admit I did it like that but in reality he LOVED it. Normally, unwrapping gifts is kind of anti climactic but having them in bags was the best. It took him a while to be able to get it out and unraveled and he could every so slightly see through the bag so he got all excited before even opening. It actually made me consider wrapping all gifts in WalMart bags from now on. BEST THING EVER!!
He got a happy meal for lunch, cause when it’s your birthday artery clogging is the name of the game. We had his party that night and had some appetizers and drinks complete with some cookie cupcakes that our nanny made for him. I’m so thankful for her and for helping take that task off of my plate. Once you have this many kids you learn your limits and capabilities. Cookie cupcakes was a limit with an 8 week old. Haha.
So it was a fun little day and a good way to welcome the start of his 3rd year outside the womb. In many ways I’m a bit sad he is 2 but I’m so excited for all the fun things he is sure to do this year and all the growth he will make.
No little boy birthday would be complete on this blog without a few stats so here we go:
Height and Weight: Well I don’t have an official pediatric appointment but according to my measurements he is
Favorite Words: Cookie, Big Bird, Ro-Ro (For Grover) Ber-T (with an exaggerated T) Ga-Goo (For oscar) Wa-er (for water) Corn (Cracker) No, See, Rawr (A personal fave) Sara (which I think means kara but not sure) Mama, Dada, and of course Baby.
Favorite Toys: All of his sesame street stuffed figures, his crib music soother, books, balls, blocks, and he loves cars he can play with and his cozy coupe car. He is also fond of his toothbrush.
Mischevious Moments: 1) He loves to lock himself in our room which requires a credit card to get him out. Now that I keep my purse in our bedroom finding a credit card has become difficult. 2)We all remember the $600 iPhone in toilet debacle, right? I’m still reeling from that one. 3) Copying Cookie Monster at the table and doing the nom nom nom to all of his food resulting in food EVERYWHERE!! 4) Speaking of food, everything is always spilled all.over.the.floor. 5) Water or I’m sorry Wa-er is his favorite. He is constantly spilling it, rubbing his hands in it, trying to get it out of the refrigerator door. This also includes ice. Might as well just have a water park in my house cause that’s about how much water I clean up every single day. 6) Hiding objects. He finds this funny – when I can’t find what I’m looking for – I do not.
Favorite Person: Dada, of course, although Mason is a close second followed by Boden, Logan and Kara (our nanny). Mom is just basically chopped liver. Jared and him are like soul sisters except of the male variety. Really, obsessed is the only word I can use. Am I surprised? No. Every child in this house is a daddy’s boy soooooo apparently he has the secret formula down pat. Works every time.
Favorite Books: Room on the Broom, obviously anything sesame street, and frozen books.
Favorite Foods: Blueberries, Crackers, Goldfish, Strawberries, Rice, and of course Cookies. Really, the kid eats everything besides veggies. Still can’t get him to love those. Boo. I’ve learned some tricks on how to hide them in other foods and he seems to like that. Definitely going to have to incorporate more of that in the future.
Current Personality: Well he is now 2 so with that comes attitude, independence and a need for all eyes on him. We are working on learning how to share since he doesn’t quite have that concept down. With the older two being in school he has ruled the roost during the day but now it’s time to learn how to share our toys. He is still mischevious in every single way and is a little ball of energy. He also likes to sleep and chillax by himself in his bed. He will spend a good solid hour in there (before or after) a nap just listening to music and reading books. If you get him up before he is ready you will for sure be paying for it the rest of the day. Bro needs his downtime. 😉 He is super happy most of the time and smiles on cue or when there is a camera in his face. I really do take way too many pictures. He doesn’t dance as much anymore but can still get down with the beat. I think, truly, he is just much too busy to be bothered stopping for any one particular activity. He finds his brothers to be hilarious in whatever they are doing and wrestling is his favorite sport.
We are so in love with you little dude and we can’t believe you are already 2. XOXO
