Height/Weight: Gavin has earned the new nickname Baby Buddha due to his 26 pound rolls of love and his 33 inch tall frame. At this point I’m pretty sure he is going to surpass Logan and his height so the 3rd boy might be our tallest. Poor Mason just doesn’t stand a chance. He missed out on the Shaquille O’Neal gene. Sorry buddy!
Routine: Our daily happenings are still pretty solid which is always great. I am so thankful for the way all three of my boys have stuck with a routine. It’s been a lifesaver with work and getting things done. He loves his morning nap and truly is never happier than when I lay him down at 9:00 in the morning to sleep. He just smiles, pulls the blanket over his head and basically tells me to peace out. It’s adorbs! His afternoon nap is starting to phase out so I think we are going to be down to one nap by the end of the month. He still gets tired in the afternoon but it’s almost too late for a nap since bedtime is around the corner. So sometimes we get it and sometimes we don’t. If he does sleep its usually only 25-30 minutes so a power nap at best. He’s ready for bed around 6:30/7:00 and is quite content to let the other boys stay up and party. He knows the best way to party is by sleeping….DUH!
Sleeping: The last week the kid has finally slept through the night 6/7 nights. IT’S AMAZING!!! Like I feel like we need a moment of silence for this amazingness………shhh………………………………..ahhhh yes such a relief. Now everyone cross their fingers and say their prayers it lasts. This momma is loving a full nights sleep.
Eating/Feeding: Real people food has definitely peaked his interest this month. He really prefers it to the formula anymore. On a good day he will have 3-4 bottles but that’s it. Sometimes he just gets 2 because he will look at me with this face of, “Mom, I’m over that fake milk crap.” Literally, he spits it out at me and it squirts all over his face…and mine. It’s quite funny…not gonna lie. We won’t introduce whole milk until around 11 months so for now I’m doing lots of cereal, rice, pastas, crackers and anything else we can find that he won’t choke on. He eats bananas like a small monkey and also loves small peach squares. Green beans aren’t exactly memorable but he’ll eat them if he has too.
Sizes: Size 5 diapers and well in clothes it’s quite shocking. As I look at him right now he is in a 3T shirt and 2T pants. All of the t-shirts and shorts I bought him for the summer are 2T-3T. Like I said….Baby Buddha. The shirts kind of hang a little but you really wouldn’t know they are so big. It’s just insane how big he is. Most people think he is almost 2…not 1.
Milestones: He is still scooting but will get in the crawling position before he decides that it takes too much work to crawl and “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” He has started to pull himself up to his knees but not quite to his feet yet. He uses his pincer grasp to pick up food unless it’s super slippery then he just sits there in amazement at why it won’t go into his mouth. He is talking A LOT. He has always been a talker but he has really discovered his voice the past month. I think he has realized that in this brood you have to talk loudly and with passion in order to be heard. So he is practicing. He has 4 new teeth coming in…HOORAY!! These will make my life much easier…and his too. The only thing I don’t like about teeth is they make babies look so much older….yes I’m in denial he is growing!
Chitter Chatter: His favorite word is Mama….naturally…but this seems to be debatable in our household. He also loves to say Baba, Dada, AHHHHH, Gaga and something that resembles shoe…..I mean clearly he is my son.
Favorite Toys: Anything soft since he has an obsession with soft things near his face….hint the blanket over the head while sleeping. He has also discovered balls and loves to roll them, throw them (or maybe it’s dropping) and pick them up. He still likes stuffed animals and attacks their faces for chewing. We have a walking, rolling toy that he also likes since he can push the buttons and make noises with the lights. Who doesn’t like all that stimulation?!? His favorite shows are Sesame Street…in particular Elmo. He loves him some Elmo. He also really likes Super Why (perhaps he’ll read early) and some BubbleGuppies. Like what are these shows and who comes up with these names??? Sadly, I find myself humming all the theme songs and feel like I should drink a bottle of wine and purchase a yacht or something just to get in touch with my adulthood again. What???…normal people don’t purchase yachts. Oh well……
Favorite Moment: I love how interactive he is with his brothers. He has always been their biggest fan but he is getting to the point where he will talk to them, play with them and just really be “part of the boys.” His whole world gets better when they get home and he just lights up. In the morning the older two will hide in his room and keep him entertained before school and I can always hear their sweet giggles and coos through the baby monitor. It’s a nice way to wake up. I also enjoy our one on one moments we get running errands and being pals. I’ve gotten that with all the boys and it’s always a cherished time when they are little.
