Height/Weight: He is 9 pounds 2 ounces which means he has lost weight since his 3 week update. I’m not sure if our scale is faulty or if he really has lost weight but it’s kind of odd. He is acting fine and he eats all the time so I don’t think he is starving but I’m gonna keep a close eye on it just in case. Definitely don’t want him losing weight. He is measuring in at around 22 1/2 inches at this point, although he definitely looks a lot taller to me.
Routine: We are finally getting on a pretty steady routine. I’d say 5/7 days of the week we are pretty good, so I’m super happy with that. We have even managed to get out of the house a little bit which is a huge accomplishment…they are short trips…but trips nonetheless.
Sleeping: He is still waking every 2 hours at night to eat. He will sleep the longest from about 8:00 or 9:00 to 11:30 or 12:00. After that he is steadily consistent at 2 hours. Still takes about 15-30 minutes to change, feed and put back to bed so on a good night I get about an hours sleep in between. He has been waking up in the mornings around 7:00 but after that feeding will sometimes fall back to sleep until 9:00. Kind of depends on the day. Still napping throughout the day mostly in the afternoon consistently. He is much more alert in the mornings and evenings.
Eating/Feeding: Well, for the past week we have been much improved with the feeding around here. I was breastfeeding for about he first 5-10 minutes and then he would finish with a bottle. I’m gonna guesstimate he was getting about one ounce of breast milk before wanting the bottle. I was pretty happy with this since it was the best of both worlds and I was really happy he was getting some breast milk…even if it wasn’t as much as I had originally planned. However, after about a week of this he started to spend less and less time at the breast and he was getting less and less milk each time. I have noticed my supply is dwindling and I think it was taking much more effort, to get the milk, than he was willing to do. So it has turned into almost 100% formula at this point. He gets on the breast about 3x per day now and that’s mostly at night. My supply is depleting and will likely be all gone within a week. We have all been much happier this week since stressing about feeding has not been an issue. At this point I feel like I gave breastfeeding all I could and sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way I had envisioned. At this point I’m okay with that.
Sizes: We are squeezing him into the last of the newborn clothes but he is in mostly 0-3 month clothes at this point. Still in size 1 diapers.
Milestones: He is smiling much more now and continues to make a lot of eye contact. He loves to stare at ceiling fans, shadows and he still enjoys looking outside. Continues to want to be held ALL the time but is more content in his swing and bouncy than in previous weeks. He makes grunting noises as his way to communicate….they are the cutest.
Favorite Moment: Seeing him smile more has been a lot of fun. He got to have some baby friend time with cousin Kaylee on Saturday night and it was quite cute to watch them interact. They avoided eye contact for the longest time and then once they saw each other they would grunt and coo back and forth. One would get fussy and the other would get quiet and then vice versa. It was too sweet. I think it will be so much fun when they are crawling all around the house together. Gavin also got to meet his Uncle Ryan this week and my best friend’s mom, Paula (whom is one of my most favorite people in the world.) Honestly, every moment I get to spend with this kid is my favorite!! haha
See ya next time at our 2 month update!!!
