I haven’t done an update in about a week so I wanted to catch everyone up on what’s been happening over here in the Harris household.
I subbed for the therapist at my boys’ school 2 days last week which was good but exhausting. Plus, I was away from Gavin both days so he really got off of his routine and schedule and I think was having some separation anxiety. Last Thursday night after I got home he was up almost 3 hours past his bedtime and didn’t sleep through the night like he has been the past few nights. So me and him didn’t get much sleep and all weekend he was quite the bear. I’m pretty sure he thinks if he takes a nap or isn’t attached to my hip then I will leave again. Poor little guy! This week he has been touch and go and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need a small break soon. Ahhh!! In the last picture you will see a size comparison between Gavin and Mason. It literally looks like Gavin could squish poor May-May. I think it’s the angle but it’s quite hilarious.
On a lighter note, we registered Logan for Mighty Mites last Wednesday. I have never seen the child be soooo excited about something in his whole life. In true Logan fashion he has been trying to contain it and be all “cool” but I can see the gleam in his eyes every time he asks when he will be starting. So we got his pads and helmet and are looking forward to meeting his coach and his teammates. He is also anxiously awaiting to see what his team colors will be. He is hoping for either red (his favorite color) or orange (for the Broncos). Personally, I’m rooting for orange! Practices start on September 2nd and games a couple of weeks after that so we are getting ready to rock n roll.
The school week went well for the boys. They are both pretty tired at night but it’s definitely getting better. Mason is fully adjusted at this point and acts as if he has been in school for years. So thankful for that! I heard raving reviews from both of their teachers the other day when I went to pick them up. So proud of both my kiddos and how well they behave, follow rules, and always try to do the right thing. We had their dentist appointments yesterday and had to go to a new dentist due to an insurance change. It’s been a bummer since they love their pediatric dentist that they have had since birth. But change is inevitable and thankfully we found another really great place. So all went well but unfortunately Logan has a small cavity so back to the office we go in a couple weeks. We came home and I reviewed, for the 100th time, proper flossing procedures. We will see if it works this time. Haha
Work is crazy busy at the moment so unfortunately we had to work through most of the weekend. We got to take a small break and watch the Broncos game early Sunday morning but other than that not much family time was had. We are expanding our business at the moment so there just aren’t enough hours in the day to achieve perfect balance. Hoping by the end of the year we will have everything done and running more on an 8-5 schedule.
My dad’s birthday was yesterday so we had the whole gang over Monday night for some eats and games. My dad was challenged for the ALS ice bucket challenge as was my little sister. In turn they challenged the rest of us who hadn’t yet participated. I did mine with the boys and my sister since we were running out of ice. I decided not to challenge anyone because parts of me feels bad that we are all pouring water over our heads when there are so many places in the world that do not have drinking water. Plus, I have worked with many patients affected with ALS and the disease is so horrifying that I want people to educate themselves as well as posting videos. Okay I’m off my soap box now. Anyways, we got the kids to bed and played a pretty hilarious game of Scattergories (an old family favorite) until close to midnight. I can honestly say that is the latest I have seen my parents stay up since I was probably 12 years old. So history was made on my Dad’s 49th birthday! We had a really great time and it’s always fun to get everyone together….just wish it happened more. BTW I totally meant to take pics of this event and 100% forgot. I’m not even sure how this happened since I take about 500 pictures of our life a day but apparantly I was having way too much fun. Whoops! However, I did get this little gem of my beautiful littlest sister. She’s a coffee lover just like me!! Woot woot. I also got my brother n laws hairy leg and my other oldest little sister’s knee. So see…I got a few people covered. 😉 Also, please forgive the cord tornado that is next to the TV. Covering it up is a work in never ending progress!
It has been majorly hot with temps pushing 100 degrees so it’s been super hard to run errands and get much accomplished. Poor Gavin just melts in the car and tells me all about it once we get to our destination. Not a pretty picture. Tomorrow I’m hoping to get out early, before the heat, and stock up on some winter clothes for the boys at a local consignment even we have going on. Clothes are so expensive and as quick as the kids grow out of them…I try to save pennies when I can.
Hope you are all having great weeks and happy Hump Day!!
