After a week of flooding and rain the sun celebrated it’s return with 90+ temps over the weekend. The heat was bearable but the humidity and mugginess that came with it was pretty stifling. Here in the midwest that’s how the heat goes….so nothing new here…but it still doesn’t make it any more enjoyable.
Saturday was spent working and completing chores….exciting things to read about…I know! 😉 However, we were hoping to just relax on Father’s Day so wanted to get as much done before hand as possible. The boys played legos, hot wheels, and Logan resembled some strange creature from the west. (We don’t ask questions….we just snap pictures for later use)
Once all the kiddos were in bed me and the hubs spent some time watching the sun disappear outside. It was quite nice until we started getting attacked by bees and bats from the woods. We have very friendly woodland creatures around here. There are bees that literally just crawl on your legs and head but never sting. I’m all about friendly but I still run for the house when those giant things are trying to play in my hair. Eeeek!!
Sunday we had muffins for breakfast that were bigger than our head, clog your arteries chinese for lunch and a simple salad for dinner. It was a good food day for the taste buds but not so much for the hips….woops! Honestly, by 1:00 we were nearly bored to tears. We literally have no idea how to do the relaxing thing. I felt useless and lazy and plain exhausted. I realize if I have idle time I just sit here and feel like I’m going to fall over into a deep slumber….sounds great until you realize you have three kids and mid afternoon naps are not an option. I’m still trying to figure out how in the world people relax. Sigh….
We did end up leaving the house and headed to the pet store to look for a new litter box….I told you this was exciting stuff. While there Logan decided he needed a pet “to take care of by myself.” Apparently, 3 cats is not enough. His first idea was a hamster…in which I quickly told him he could live outside with his hamster…..then he decided a lizard would be better ….then he wanted a $150 bird. First, I was saying we live in the country and have lots of lizards outside, then I was utterly confused at why a bird cost $150. Like really??? Man oh man I’ve got lots of those for free in my backyard. He took my silent contemplation of bird prices as a resounding yes and I barely got out of the stupid store without a bird. On the way out Jared said maybe he could have a turtle in the future and I nearly killed him. Ugh…..these creatures are for outdoors. Let’s hope they have short memories and forget about the turtle.
Back to work on this Monday with lots and lots to do. Looks like we will be working through this coming weekend so I won’t have to worry about idle time. Haha! What did you all do for Father’s Day??
