Yesterday, we celebrated my cousins 5th birthday party at what my boys consider “the greatest place on earth” – Chuck e Cheese. Really, when I stopand think about it, what kind of kid wouldn’t like greasy pizza, shiny tokens, endless games, disco lighting and an endless stream of noise, noise, noise. It’s like a perfect combination of all things kids love. However, what stumps me most is how all of us as kids fell in love with a talking mouse. I mean I can think of a few other cuter, and more cuddly animals than a mouse.
How about a ploar bear, a fluffy lion, or even a monkey. See, cute and cuddly!
Whenever I see a real mouse I run for the hills, screaming in panic thinking the 3 inch rodent is gonna eat me alive. Yet, here we go and drop a ridiculous amount of money to get hugs from said rodent. Perhaps, it’s one of those ingenious ideas that works because it’s rather bizarre.
Anyways here are some highlights from yesterdays adventures.
We were lucky enough to have the mouse himself come and celebrate with us. He led us on a rendition of happy birthday, helped the birthday girl blow out her candles and presented her with a special blow up, inflatable crown. I mean what girl doesn’t prefer a red inflatable tiara to the realy sparkly ones. Duh!
After getting crowned, dancing, and seeing how many times and ways we could say ‘happy birthday’ it was time to chow down on all things unhealthy. The pizza kept flowing, soda was refilled, and I’m pretty sure my kids alone went through a whole ream of napkins. We then gorged on the cake which was cute and put us all into a sugar coma.
After we were stuffed with pizza and the worlds sweetest cake we went on the hunt for more stimulation and found it in the form of a simulated roller coaster. My 3 year old isn’t quite tall enough to ride real roller coasters so he was beyone thrilled. I am a roller coaster addict but was on a sugar high and decided to sit this thrill ride out. Thankfully, there were many poor souls looking to throw up their digested sugar so he didn’t have to go alone.
As much as me and my husband would never admit it we are like little kids when it comes to collecting tickets. We are bound and determined to stuff our pockets full. It’s truly a rush trying to get the jackpot on all these games that were made for 10 year olds. It’s rather embarrassing to admit but we love it as much as the kids. I think yesterday we ended up with nearly 300 tickets which is pretty good for a stint at Chuck e Cheese and hopefully the birthday girl got something good with those hard earned pieces of paper.
All in all it was a fun day and the important thing is that my cousin is turning 5 which is a HUGE milestone!!! Even though we all left exhausted, crashing from carbs, and over stimulated it was worth seeing all the kids smiles and innocent glee. Sometimes it’s important to remember how happy the little things made us as kids. So thank you giant mouse for providing my kids with joy!!!
Until next time…….
