Me and my husband started a tradition when we first got married that has been repeated ever since then. Due to our giddiness and impatience at being forced to wait to open our gifts……we decided to be rebellious. Gasp…..us be rebellious? Indeed it’s true. We started out just opening one gift a week or a few days before Christmas which quickly turned to two and then three until we had opened them all up. Breaking the rules just feels too good sometimes!! 🙂 Anyways, in the name of tradition we opened all of our gifts last night. Usually we have a dollar amount that both of us are supposed to stick with. However, both of us usually go over budget chalking it up to the name of love. This year, to make it more interesting, Jared came up with the idea to buy 10 gifts all under 10 dollars. This did not include taxes or shipping costs. What seemed like a doable task actually ended up being quite difficult on both sides. It’s amazing how hard it can be to find things under ten dollars. I found a lot of cool things that always ended up being 11 or 12 dollars which was very frustrating. However, I can save those for his upcoming birthday so it actually works out. So last night we put the boys to bed, turned the Christmas tree on, grabbed our refreshments and let the fun begin. (Technically the caption is slightly wrong. His are the ones he purchased for me and Hers are the ones I purchased for him….blame it on the preggo brain) For those of you who are counting the presents, there are only 7 pictured. We ended up running out of time to get the last 3 and things have been so crazy that we decided to just stick with 7 and possibly get the last 3 for Christmas Day! I got a lot of fun things and everything I requested. I was worried he would think most of his gifts were lame since I’m not a very good gift giver but to my delight he loved them and has already gotten good use out of most things. Score for me!! Woot woot! We had a great night and it’s always nice to spend some quiet time together whether gifts are involved or not. It’s always fun to feel rebellious and break traditional rules!! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy a little naughty of your own!!
