I can hardly believe the littlest little is already 1/2 a year old, as of last Sunday. I just know I’ll be celebrating his 1st birthday before I even know it. However, as I stated on my social media on Sunday (@aleciaharris88) I am enjoying all of these passing moments and milestones and not as sad they are passing because I have been so conscious and present in the moment, this time around. I’m just so thankful for my family every single day and basking in gratitude at how fortunate I am to have such amazing kids.
Height/Weight: Went to the doctor today and he is weighing in at 18 lbs 3 oz and measuring 28.25 inches. He is by far my skinniest child but is still of Amazon type height. Super tall and lanky it appears he shall be.
Routine: His routine continues to be very consistent and for the most part lines up perfectly with Gavin’s schedule. So most days they both are sleeping at the same time, for at least 30 minutes to an hour. It’s amazing what peace can consume the home during simultaneous naps!!
Sleeping: He sleeps well. Still inconsistent with sleeping through the night but I’d say about 4 nights a week he wakes up once in the night to eat and the other 3 he sleeps through the night. It kind of just comes and goes. I don’t really think he even needs to eat, it’s more of just a soothing to go back to sleep. Honestly, I will not complain since I’ve had the babies that are still up a lot at this stage.
Eating/Feeding: He eats 6oz of formula about 4 times per day and is having all baby foods and oatmeal 2-3 times per day. He still likes all fruits and veggies and seems to tolerate them all well. The kid does love to eat but he is kind of a snacker instead of a “let’s consume the earth’s food in one sitting,” type of kid.
Sizes: Size 3 diapers and 9-12 month clothes. I have finally been able to switch him over to mostly fall stuff, which is a relief since he was barely fitting into summer clothes anymore. I’m gonna have to run out and get some new sleepers/jammies but otherwise he is in about the same sizes as brothers were at this age. Oh the joys of large children.
Milestones: He is still rolling over from back to tummy but literally still refuses to go from tummy to back. He is quite stubborn. He can sit up with assistance but prefers to be in his walker or on his back where he can see the rest of the world. Once he figures out how his life will change with independence I suspect he will hit milestones rather rapidly but for now he just wants to be somewhere where he can observe everything going on in the house. Milestones can wait. He is also still toothless but I can feel his bottom teeth about to poke through so I suspect they’ll be making an appearance in the next month or two. He still loves to chew on his fingers and at night I’ll often find him sucking on his thumb, although, it’s sparatic and usually just worse when his teeth are bothering him. He refuses to take a pacifier of any kind at this point (never loved it to begin with) and so all he has are his cute chubby fingers.
Favorite Toys: Any toy that I can freeze and make cold, he loves and anything he can pick up. He also really likes Sesame Street characters mostly because big brother is always throwing one at him or jumping up and down in excitement over “Cewkie or Big Buuurd or Awker.” He also likes mirrors but still prefers faces and funny voices over anything else. I think when you’re the fourth kid you really don’t need toys as all the human offspring you live with are entertainment enough.
Favorite Moment: It’s been hard to find favorite moments every month because he is such a good baby there are like no bad moments. However, my favorite has probably been seeing how sweet Gavin and him interact. Since Boden is a little more mobile and awake more, Gavin has really become attached the past month and paid him more attention. He is constantly giving him kisses and giving him toys, or talking to him and saying, “coot baby” followed by giggles. Boden thinks it’s equally funny as he smiles and laughs. They really do carry on their own conversations. He is also equally in love with his older brothers and thinks the world has become brighter when they get home from school. I say it every month but it’s the most amazing thing to see siblings interact and grow up with each other. I LOVE IT!!!
