I am officially 26! Considering I feel like I just turned 25 this might take make me a minute to get used to the sound of a 6 in my age. However, I didn’t wake up with gray hairs or crows feet so all in all it was a good birthday! 😉
You will have to forgive the lack of pictures in this post because I have none. Sometimes I find myself behind the camera so much that I miss out on just enjoying the moment. So in honor of my birthday I decided to put the camera and the “camera” phone away so that I could truly relish the time with the family. So today you will be forced to read my rambles without visual entertainment.
I had planned on sleeping in yesterday but I should have known that being 26 weeks pregnant does not allow such things. I woke up with the usual pains but was determined to not let that ruin my day. The boys made me a great breakfast consisting of blueberry muffins, bananas and fresh peaches. They had taken my “order” the night before and had a little menu made up so that they wouldn’t “mess up.” haha. It was the cutest and definitely tasted delish.
In order to relieve some back and hip pain I did some exercise and stretches and thankfully felt so much better afterwards……even though I could barely breathe.
We got some work done and then headed off for some adventure. Chinese was calling our name as was a california roll (yes, a preggo sacrifice indeed). We headed to our favorite chinese joint and had more food than any of us could eat. The sushi was amazing and certainly fulfilled my month long craving even if it was all cooked and not my usual spicy tuna roll. In fact, I ate so much I’m pretty sure I waddled out of the restaurant even worse then when I came in. What a sight that must have been!
After lunch we headed to play some indoor mini golf also known as glow golf. It was definitely glowy, dark and loud but we managed through 2 games of 18 holes. Technically, I had a Groupon which paid for 3 games but there was no way we were going to make it through 3. After the first game I was nearly dead on my feet and gave up bending over to grab the ball out of the hole. I had to nominate one of my sweet boys for that job. The boys started to get grumpy midway through the second game and both mommy and daddy were in serious need of some coffee. In fact on the second to last hole Mason actually laid down…..perhaps in hopes of taking a nap. We let the boys finish out, since I could barely move, let alone swing a club. I’m not entirely convinced there wasn’t something more to the glowiness of that place. Perhaps it had a mist of sleeping vapors….or maybe it was just the chinese…..but it was the most exhausting golf we have ever played. Haha. Despite the tiredness we really did have fun…..and I’m pretty sure I won thanks to 3 hole in ones!! 😉
We sped to the nearest Starbucks upon leaving golf in search of some much needed “pick me up.” It was at the local target…along with the rest of the world…..so the boys got to wind down and look at some toys. I got to check out some baby stuff and was proud of myself for actually not buying anything. They had the cutest little hats on clearance but, alas, I resisted the temptation. The boys didn’t last long and after dragging them back out to the car they both fell into a slumber as soon as they were buckled.
The hubs made homemade pizza for dinner. (FYI: he makes the most amazing pizza from scratch…lucky me) Then we topped it all off with some coconut cream pie since that was always my mother n laws favorite dessert. Since it was a last minute decision it wasn’t completely thawed so it was more like icicle cream pie but it was still delicious. They sang me a very loud and booming rendition of Happy Birthday and we dug in.
The day ended with a family game, tucking my little monsters in bed and then me losing to my husband in several games of Sequence. I beat him twice but he annihilated me every other time. I thought on your birthday people were supposed to let you win! Hmmm…. lol
Overall, it was a really great birthday and the whole day flew by. Looking forward to a good year full of lots of good things. I feel optimistic and have a renewed sense of energy. Let’s hope it lasts for a long time.
