It’s that time of year where the two older boys head back to school for learning and as they would say “more fun than home.” I swear I don’t take too much offense to that statement since I’m sure it really is true. A few years from now they’ll relish in things that aren’t school related so I’ll enjoy this young enthusiasm while I can.
Logan will be in 4th grade this year, which literally has my head spinning. There is something about 4th grade that seems so grown up and the beginning of “big kid” madness. He is 4’9″ and will be towering over me at any moment. He is also 64 lbs of pure muscle and bone. The kid is skinny as a rail but weighs about as much as a large boulder. I really don’t know where this height comes from. He is super excited about getting back into school and being the head honcho at school. This will be his last year at Elementary school before moving onto middle school for 5th and 6th grades. This will also be the last year him and Mason are in the same school. This will not occur again until Logan is a junior in high school. Kind of sad and scary at the thought of Logan being a junior in high school. I’m sweating at the thought.
He has a few friends in his class so is excited about that. The ones he doesn’t have he sees at lunch and recess so the world will not end. He still thinks girls have cooties (which is a good balance to his overly romantic little brother) and he still swears he will not be getting married EVER because he will be much too busy focusing on his football career. Whatever, son! Speaking of football he is still planning on joining the NFL and will play for any team as long as it is not the “stinky Chiefs.” Oh the rivalry runs deep. HAHA. I can’t blame the kid for having some serious goals and I just keep telling him that with an insane amount of hard work, anything is possible. Go get em, kid!
As for Mason, he will be in 2nd grade. This also is even more mind blowing because Mason is still so young and innocent. Unlike Logan, who is a typical firstborn, Mason is much more childlike with a softer side. As I said above he is my heartless romantic. He could literally write Hallmark Valentines Day cards with his poetry. He is my little dude measuring 4’1″ and only weighs 44lbs. He too is skinny as a rail but eats likes a horse. All of the men in my life have a metabolism everyone in the world would kill for, literally. Totes (this means totally for all you uncool people) (haha) not fair! 2nd grade will be good for him as he has a tendency to try to find the easy way of doing things and is more concerned for social gatherings than school work. 😉
Much to his dismay his longtime girlfriend is not in his class but she is down the hall so they can make googly eyes at each other in passing and at recess. He is still madly in love and can’t even “look at another girl cause she’s the prettiest.” When asked who is the prettiest in his class he said, “I just can’t choose anyone in my class. My heart is full of Taylor.” Yes, ladies he’s a winner. I swear this kid will definitely get me in trouble one day as I see him bringing home all sorts of women. I’ll probably have to swat them all away with a stick or perhaps I could filter some of them to his older brother to help break his determination to not get married. A mom has to do what she can, right?! 😉
He is torn between being a swimmer in the Olympics, when he grows up, or a NBA player. Although, I must say, with his obsession with Star Wars lately, if Darth Vader was an option he would take that. He has a liking for the Dark Side. Speaking of swimming both boys start swim lessons on Saturday – which is about 5 years overdue but hey, better late than never.
Both boys get their own chromebooks this year, as technology becomes ever so present at school. I’m a little worried at the thought of the toddler or growing baby getting a hold of it and using it as a play thing but we will hope for the best. Life is never not crazy here so smearing pudding on a chromebook won’t be the craziest thing to happen. Ugh!
Hoping you all have wonderful school years and are having a smooth transition back to some routine and normalcy!
