My Dearest Logan,
Today, is a big day in your life. It’s one of many milestones and moments of transition you will experience in your long life. It’s a big moment that you won’t quite realize the magnitude of until it’s long gone. A moment I hope you’ll take one minute to just soak in and remember forever.
Today, you will walk out of your current school and never go back. Those halls will whisper only with memories after this day. You will now be a visitor in a place you have called home for 5 long years. You’ll go back and remember fondly your past self growing, learning, adapting and changing between those walls.
Today, you will say goodbye. Goodbye to the teachers who have helped mold you into the phenomenal person you are today. You will say goodbye to a staff that has become a significant part of your life….like a second family. You will pack up your belongings and never turn back.
Today, you become a 5th grader. You move on to a new school with new people and a load of possibilities. The experiences you have gone through up until this point will prepare you for any challenge you may face in the next 2 years of middle school. Things will make more sense socially, educationally and mentally. You’ll understand more of the world…the good and the bad. You’ll experience more about people…the good and the bad. But most of all you’ll move forward in pursuit of more joy, more happiness, more discovery and more fun. A whole new world will be opened up to you that will challenge you, inspire you and teach you.
Today, I am so exceptionally proud of you. Proud of how far you have come and how far we have all come together. 10 years has seemed so short, so fast and yet has been so rewarding at the same time. I am proud of who you are inside your heart. There is an inherent goodness that was born with you and that I can’t take credit for. Thank you for being a kid teachers always want to have 30 of and a guy all the kids want to be friends with. You are exceptional.
Today, remember this feeling. This moment. Remember exactly who you are…right now…and look forward to the person you’ll be becoming. This moment is fleeting yet so important. So take a moment.
I love you.
I adore you.
I like you.
I am so proud of you.
