Yesterday, Mason turned 6 and he woke up in denial and I woke up with a few more gray hairs…..or what I imagined to be gray hairs. I feel old?? How do I have an almost 8 year old, 6 year old and 4 month old already???
Mason struggles with turning older….poor thing always says, “I want to stay (enter whatever age he is the time) forever!” He isn’t a huge fan of this growing up stuff and I’m realizing I’m not either. However, this only lasts about 1 day before he realizes that with big boy hood comes more privileges, muscle and height which is always good when you have brothers. 😉
We celebrated with a dinner that was really breakfast food at Village Inn. Yes, our 6 year old loves Village Inn. He chowed down on a monster faced pancake with eggs and bacon and I munched on egg whites. The whole time I was trying to savor the scent of the cinnamon pancakes the lady behind me was consuming. I was hoping the scent would satiate the burning craving to have one. Ugh….why are carbs and sugar so evil!! Anyways, we then headed to see Maleficent, which was chosen by him because it was “Cweepy!” If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it and both boys loved it. This was the first movie me and my husband have seen in theaters in 2.5 years so it was a nice treat. Gavin gave my sister a run for her money here at the house but she handled it like a champ and he was sleeping soundly when we got back home. It was a really fun evening and definitely much needed!
In honor of Mason’s birthday I wanted to do a few stats as he turns 6.
School: Kindergarten and in Mrs. Tate’s class. He is learning how to write and say his letters and a lot of pre-reading material. He loves art class the most and is constantly drawing, gluing, cutting and putting together anything he can find. Most days off he is begging to paint and I’m pretty sure would just live in a bucket of paint if he could. Crazy kid! He is at the top of his class and is always well behaved and dependable. Yay for that!
Home: Mason is the best big brother, as I always knew he would be. He is so loving towards Gavin and always make sure that he is taken care of. There isn’t a more well behaved child on most days than Mason. He is so easy going and does exactly what is asked of him on most occasions. There are a few people who are born genuinely kind spirited and good hearted and Mason is one of those people. He has a love for others and always wants to make others smile. That is not a parenting secret or skill…..it’s purely him and his big heart. (I only wish I knew the secret to bottling that up)
Sleeping is still one of his favorite pastimes (isn’t it that way for all of us) and singing is his preferred method of communication. He is loving all the new songs he is learning in class and I always catch him humming away in the car, over breakfast or in his bed before sleeping. It’s the cutest. I’m pretty sure The Voice will be calling him any day now. Move over Adam Lavigne….Mason Man is in town!! 😉
I could go on and on like every other mother in the world but I digress. All you really need to know is that Mason is just plain Awesome and I’m sooooo lucky to be his mom!
