To say life has been a little crazy around here would be an understatement. We had two room makeovers, Easter, and a sick baby on top of the usual things we have going on. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through the weekend but here I am still alive and breathing……or at least I was last time I checked.
Gavin has been teething something fierce. He has gone from one tooth to five in about 1.5 weeks. With this round has come fevers, a snotty nose, and a croopy little voice. If we don’t have improvements soon we may be heading off to the doctor. In the meantime we are snuggling, rocking, and fighting the tears. (Me and him both)
Saturday we had our “nieces” bday party. Okay, so she isn’t really my niece…she is actually a second cousin but who cares about semantics anyways. I can’t even believe she is 1 considering it literally felt like yesterday I was holding her in the hospital while being 8 months pregnant myself. It’s been so much fun to watch her grow and interact with Gavin and the other kids. Plus, I thoroughly enjoy getting some always needed baby girl time. 😉
Easter went well. I had spent the night on the couch due to all the sickness in the house and had finally dozed off about 2:30. I finally got into my good REM sleep when the brightest flashlight known to man was waving back and forth over my face. In my delirious state I noticed it was 4:00 in the morning and instantly thought we were being burglarized. I figured that would be my luck on the one night my reflexes were going to be slow from lack of sleep. For a brief instant I didn’t care what they took as long as they let me sleep. Once I heard the little whispers and giggles I realized we were being burglarized by a couple of knuckleheads named Logan and Mason. They were in hot pursuit of the easter baskets from the easter bunny. It was like watching an episode of Sherlock Holmes. They were quite sleuthy. Apparently, we hid them exceptionally well because they didn’t even find them until 8:00. Although, their search may have been slow due to the death looks they kept getting from that cranky lady on the couch. Whoops! Jared’s family came over for lunch and we feasted on pulled pork, ham and all the sides. We didn’t get to easter egg hunt due to the rain and cold weather…Boo. However, we will be doing an extra big hunt this week with the kids once the weather gets nice and warm. Sometimes waiting does pay off….or at least that’s what I keep telling them. Haha!
Last night I had a late night pick up at the airport. It was the latest I’ve been out and about in a LONG time but it was surprisingly fun and super relaxing. I was literally the only human being in the airport and the quiet was pretty heavenly. It’s amazing how you kind of forget what quiet is like when you rarely get it.
I mentioned our 2-room makeover projects. We spent a whole entire day on the boys’ room again and got it to what we hope will be the most functional place yet. If you have been following me long you know that we have re-done the kids’ room probably 25 times in their short lives. I think it’s kids in general but I also suspect that boys are even worse at keeping things clean and in any sort of order. I mean instead of grabbing one crayon and putting it back in the box they would rather dump out all the contents and then throw them at each other until they’re all over the floor and half broken since everyone keeps stepping on them. Let’s just say it’s been the biggest nightmare of my life and one I’m hoping we have finally conquered. (We still have decor to do so please don’t judge the bare windows and walls)
Our next project was the main bathroom/boys’ bathroom. Same story here…..boys don’t understand the concept of peeing in the potty and instead decide to pee wherever the mood strikes them. It was awful and I kind of put off doing anything super nice for fear it would just become a fancier pee pit. (Mom’s of boys…do ya feel me) Well I decided that we have 3 bathrooms in this house so if the boys can’t keep it nice they can walk downstairs and mess up that bathroom. It took a day to paint, decorate and clean but I am sooooo extremely happy with how it turned out. We will eventually replace the faucets and vanity/countertops but for now it looks like a million dollars compared to it’s old self. Bonus perk…the kids so far are keeping it pretty clean. Say what?!? Oh and thanks to the hubs for building all the shelves and pieces in this bathroom. He’s a stud!
I have been working tirelessly on getting my new blog design up and running……hence the absence last week. Let me know what you think and what topics are your favorite/and or want to see more of. I’m always looking for ways to connect with you all and give you worthwhile material.
Other than that we are back to work and back to regular ole life. Hope you all had a great Easter with your family!
