How far along: 39 Weeks! He has 7 days to evict himself before mommy becomes a big ole cranky mess. This is the week I’ve been waiting for since I suspect he will be making an appearance sometime this week but we shall see. I’m trying to patiently wait and remain positive even with the long nights of walking the house, dealing with false contractions, leg cramps, nausea and other unpleasant symptoms. I know they’re all progressing labor which will be great once I actually begin – half the work will be done for me – it’s just getting through the mental and physical fatigue it causes when I’m running on zero sleep and soreness. Alas, we will get there and it will be fine and it will all be worth it.
Baby’s size: 19.96 inches and 7.25 pounds give or take. He is the size of a french grain sack which seem so cute and cuddly for a newborn baby. Why hello there you sweet chubby sack. Hahaha.
Sleep: Well, when I’m not having contractions all night, it’s not too bad for being 39 weeks pregnant. I’ve discovered a new semi-propped up position that had really helped up until the past 2 nights when the above mentioned contractions and other crap started.
Best moment this week: We had a great Easter and finished up some festivities of our own on Monday with an easter egg hunt at the house for the kids. The weather was dreary on actual Easter so we postponed until the sun made an appearance the next day. Can you believe I didn’t take a single Easter picture?!?! I must have really been out of it because that NEVER happens.
Movement: He’s still moving just not as crazily since he is now at max capacity in there. He is super low so most of his movements are lower and even towards my back. He’s out of my ribs which is great – even though he was never much in them anyways. Anyways, point is he is moving enough to not have me worried and his movements at night have actually slowed a bit so I think he’s catching on to the whole “Nighttime is sleepy time,” concept. 😉
Cravings: Oh nothing new. Still thirsty all the time and I’m eating lots of fruit. I should probably drown myself in pineapple since they say that helps induce labor. Although, now that I’m on my 4th baby I’ve tried everything with my pregnancies and nothing EVER worked. I have a lot of stubborn boys in my life.
Missing Anything: Endurance and being able to move. I think it’s the same thing every pregnant woman misses about this time. It’s nice to be forced to rest since your body literally can’t function sometimes but it’s also hard when I have so much to do and other kids to take care of. I feel like a lazy slob sometimes and I seriously HATE that feeling. Not too much longer though.
Queasy or sick: I’ve had some nausea the past week but I think that’s due to just impending labor. All symptoms are kind of amplified before the big day as a way of your body preparing for all the hard work it’s going to go through. So I’m taking it in stride and reminding myself that every single day is closer and every new symptom is a good sign.
Looking forward to: Another Dr. Appointment on Friday – if we make it that far. Last Friday I was dilated to a 2, 75% effaced and he was at a -1 station. So he is almost engaged and actually at this point I think he is fully engaged in the pelvis. She could feel my membranes and his head so suspects he will be making an appearance any day now. However, with my due date a week away that technically counts as any day sooooo let’s not get too excited just yet. My other humans were at a steady -2 before labor began so he is definitely the lowest one and I can sure tell. Hopefully, that will make labor even quicker and allow him to slide out easier since he is technically half way there already.
Baby Item of the Week: At this point we have everything ready to go, although, things have been so crazy I probably am forgetting something. But when you’re on your 4th kid you realize that you’ll solve that hurdle when you get to it. Bags have been packed, clothes washed, car seat installed and now we are just waiting for him to be ready. I’m sure it’s very difficult to leave a very warm little cocoon but he’s gonna need to get on it cause this momma is pretty tired. Hopefully, next week I’ll have a birth story as opposed to a 40 week update! Fingers crossed.
