Week 36 has been welcomed in with a very hot “summer” like day. We peaked over 90 degrees here and while it’s definitely been nice having a warm day…..this preggo belly is not liking the extreme heat. However, we met with some cousins and other family today to play some baseball or rather “hit and chase” ball. Luckily, I found the dugout to be nice and shady and with a cool breeze I found some solace with my cousin (who is a new mom to her month old second daughter) and my camera!! We went for some ice cream after to cool off so I’d say slaving in the heat was well worth it. 🙂
Without further ado here is this weeks update!! Only 28 more days…..maybe less…days to go! Yippee!!!!
How far along: 36 weeks
Baby’s size: Baby Harris is weighing in around 6 pounds this week and measuring anywhere between 18-20 inches. Of course these are all estimates so who knows what Gavin is actually weighing at this point. If he is only 6 pounds, it’s the heaviest 6 pounds I’ve ever felt in all my life. haha! He is continuing to accumulate fat in his shoulders, back and cute little face. All of his organs continue to work hard to practice for the big day, minus the digestive system, which will start to really practice after his first meal of breast milk.
Sleep: Depends on the day at this point. Pain is still every night as it has been for months and will continue up until D-Day. However, I’ve been pretty busy this week so have been crashing a lot harder at night due to all the fatigue. I wake up at 7:00 to get Logan ready for school and feel somewhat energized until about 8:15 when I feel like I’ve been up for 3 days straight. It’s crazy how I just hit this wall about an hour after waking. It’s pretty difficult to get things done in that state.
Best moment this week: Had my baby shower yesterday and got to see lots of family and friends I hadn’t seen in quite a while. With everyones busy schedules it’s really hard to get together very much anymore. Amazing how fast the months go by and you don’t even realize how long it’s been. I got some amazing gifts and got A LOT of things checked off my list so I am feeling much more prepared for the little guys arrival after yesterday. Last night after the shower we had a Wild Wild West Party at Logan’s school and got to watch him line dance and complete some activities. It was lots of fun and I’m always reminded of how fast he is growing at events such as that.
Worst moment of the week: I can’t really remember a worst moment…..which is good these days. Swelling has started again…at night especially. Thankfully, I have had the least amount of swelling with this pregnancy because I’m really trying to increase my water intake and make sure my feet are up at all possible times. The swelling just will come on very fast, due to the busy schedule I’ve had, and can be painful so I gotta watch my activity level.
Movement: He is asleep about 90% of the time, which is normal at this point. His movements have definitely slowed down significantly but not to the point where I am worried. He still makes his presence known when needed and will always perform or do some kind of movement when my belly is touched. I’m pretty sure he is so big at this point he can feel basically everything going on on top of the ole belly.
Cravings: Didn’t have anything significant this week. Focusing on more smaller meals throughout the day as opposed to larger ones. Since my stomach is being squished it’s getting harder to hold a lot of food in there at one time. I’m still really missing my caffeine though. It’s not for the caffeine benefits because I’ve never needed that too much but just for the drinks that contain the caffeine. I’m a tea and coffee girl and so being very limited has been rough. Plus, the heat is kicking in this week and I’m burning so a nice glass of iced tea always sounds amazing. Sigh….just 28 more days….maybe!
Missing Anything: Real exercise, sleep, walking normal, and no pain.
Queasy or sick: Still feeling pretty good.
Looking forward to: Doctors appointment on Tuesday. I start going every week now so that definitely means the end is near. I will get my Strep-B test done which will hopefully come back negative and will do the usual HR and measurement update. Technically, she typically does not check for dilation until week 38 but since I am measuring later she may start at week 37. We shall see. I’m also looking forward to a less busy week and finalizing the nursery and marking off those last few things on my list.
Baby item of the week: There are lots of baby items of the week due to my shower yesterday. Join me for Mommy Monday where I’ll be sharing lots of pictures from the shower and a highlight of some awesome and cute gifts. Also, got everything hung in the nursery so will be finishing up the last few things and doing a nursery post hopefully in the next 2 weeks…..stay tuned!
Have a great week everyone!!
