How far along: 28 weeks and 2 days
Baby’s size: Little man is weighing in at 2.5 pounds and 16 inches long. He is getting plump in all the right places and is now opening his eyes for most of his “alert” periods. He recognizes voices and can distinguish between mom, dad and hopefully 2 very loud brothers. He is head down (As confirmed by the doctor today) and is settling in nicely getting ready for his big debut in just 3 short months. Hooray!!
Sleep: Nothing new to report here. Still pain, still waking up to pee every 2 hours and I continue to add pillows to the bed pretty much every other night. I’m pretty sure my husband checks to make sure I am still breathing under the sea of pillows I have stacked around me. I should really just break down and buy one of those preggo pillows but right now I can’t justify the cost when I have so much baby stuff I need. Besides I can last 3 more months….right?? :/
Best moment this week: Start of spring break. Excited to have my Logan man home for a whole week. Plus, perk of spring break means I can get a little extra sleep in the morning which helps when I’m not sleeping very well throughout the night!
Worst moment of the week: My husband’s step grandpa passed away on Wednesday after slowly declining over the past few months. He has been in the nursing home for the past 2 months suffering from kidney and congestive heart failure. Sepsis got the best of him last week and he died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday night. He was 83 and had lived a very long and great life. The irony is not lost on us that he passed away exactly 2 weeks before the 1st anniversary of my mother n law passing. March is not turning out to be the best of months but we are again focusing in the positive and the joy that we can find in the wonderful life he did have.
Movement: He definitely has his routine down pat. He moves like clockwork everyday and is regulating quite the little schedule for himself. Thankfully he is sleeping for quite a bit through the night so a mother can only dream that will continue outside the womb. However, after having 2 I realize this is a beautiful dream. haha! Now that he is head down his kicks are more prominent in the ribs and up higher but thankfully with a little nudge from mom he calms down if he gets to pushing too much.
Cravings: I had 3 brownies today so that probably qualifies as a craving but technically it’s because they were sitting on my counter from the funeral and I just couldn’t help myself. I mean with brownies who can just have one?? Other than that I’m still on my fruit kick, I’ve been drinking organic milk every morning which has been quite refreshing, and pancakes have also been on the menu. Definitely haven’t had anything that I’m making my husband go out and get at 2 in the morning. I’m sure he is incredibly thankful for that!
Missing Anything: Really I’m just missing a decent nights sleep. I’m not as exhausted as I could be but I don’t wake up feeling very refreshed either. It’s good preparation for things to come so I can’t complain too much but a few good nights sleep during the week would be a welcome gift.
Queasy or sick: Feeling really good. No dizziness and the braxton hicks have lessened somewhat. Still come like a vengeance when they do but they have eased off in the morning time and are mainly just at night now.
Looking forward to: All the nice weather this week. It was absolutely gorgeous today at 76 degrees!! We tried to rush through work in order to enjoy some sun. The boys were running outside and rolling around in the dirt all day long. It felt fabulous to get some Vitamin D and feel the sun on our faces. Supposed to get colder tomorrow but will then warm up again end of week. Certainly can’t complain after a winter full of polar vortex’s.
Baby item of the week: All the fabric I shared with you last week should be in on Thursday so I’m excited about getting started on those projects!! (I really need some free time) I also got started on the hooded towels I am making. The first one turned out really cute and I have 3 more to make. I’ll finish those and post pics as well as a link to the tutorial once they are done.
I forgot to post a pic from our ultrasound 2 weeks ago.
Here is Gavin at 26 weeks and 2 days!!
