How far along: 26 weeks and 2 days
Baby’s size: 1.7 pounds and over 14 oz long. He continues to plump up and get bigger and stronger. His punches and kicks are becoming stronger and I can tell he is growing like a weed.
Sleep: I am sleeping but wake up several times a night with really bad hip pain. Now that it is completely uncomfortable, not to mention unsafe, to sleep on my back I am forced to sleep all night on both of my sides. This means A LOT of pressure on my hips and I end up with sharp pains throughout the night. It feels as if i’m sleeping on something really sharp….so I switch sides and wait until that starts to hurt and go back to the other side. I pretty much continue this dance all night long until morning. Somewhere in between trying to lug this big belly around and attempting to turn gracefully as not to disturb the husband….I sleep.
Best moment this week: It was my birthday on Saturday and I had a really great day. I turned 26 a day before I hit 26 weeks pregnant so it was a really great weekend! 🙂
Worst moment of the week: Braxton Hicks contractions have started and are making an entrance with a lot of force. Apparantly, they wanted to make sure I had not forgotten what they felt like because they sure are making me remember. They are much stronger and often this time around than with my other two boys but mainly happen in the morning and night. I’m trying to up my fluids and walk more to see if that will help….so far it hasn’t made a difference. My doctor isn’t too concerned and just said to make sure if they do become consistent than to head to the hospital. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen for a little while longer.
Movement: Still moving like a crazy man. In a few weeks he will be getting smushed so I’m enjoying getting to feel him now. Logan was able to feel him last night and so now everyone has officially made a “connection” with little Gavin. Hooray!
Cravings: No big cravings this week. I’ve had more aversions than anything. I’m really trying to clean up my diet a bit more lately and have stuck to mainly clean foods the past week. Although….I’m not gonna lie….the occasional valentines chocolate has somehow found a way into my mouth.
Missing Anything: Sleeping without pain. I have had hip pain off and on since my oldest was born but usually just a couple of nights a month…not every night. The pain is pretty severe and while stretching has helped, finding good positions to stretch these hips is becoming increasingly difficult considering the soccer ball in my belly.
Queasy or sick: Feeling pretty good this week. I have a few small bouts of dizziness but then they go away. Nothing crazy or anything. Thankful to be feeling pretty good.
Looking forward to: I was really looking forward to my doctors appointment which I had today. I had another ultrasound which revealed that my Placenta has moved way far away from my cervix!!! HOORAY! This was awesome news and means I won’t need a C-Section (hopefully). Since my other two labors were great I was very glad to hear that hopefully the third will be the same. The fluid looks good and Gavin looked great. He was sleeping and sucking his thumb and looks much more plump and baby like than he did at the 18 week ultrasound. Mason got to go with us to watch and thought it was “pretty cool.” Now I’m even more excited to meet him and am thrilled he is so healthy and looks so happy. I got 2 shots today and am awaiting the results of my glucose test. Fingers crossed I pass!! I start going back every 2 weeks now which always makes the time fly by. He will be here before I know it! I really need to get working on that nursery!
Baby item of the week: I finished all the burp cloths, crib sheets and baby blanket for him. I will do a post on all my sewing projects later on. I still have plans to make the crib skirt and curtains and some swaddling blankets but with time flying by we will see if that happens or not. I also got my list done for everything else I still need and lets just say…..wow…..didn’t realize I got rid of so much stuff when we moved. Whoops!
Hope you are all having a fantastic week wherever you are!
