How far along: 20 weeks and 3 days
Baby’s size: Around the size of a banana. Considering how much I popped out this week I’d say he grew quite a bit.
Big News: We have a NAME!!! We finally decided on what our little man will be called this week. We had 4 first names to choose from (which is highly unusual for us….typically we have 0). My husband has wanted Gavin for both of our other kids and so I decided to finally give in! haha. So we are going with Gavin Phoenix. All of our boys have greek middle names which represent strength and masculinity. Phoenix also means rebirth and miracle so I thought it was perfect since he was the light in a pretty dark year last year. So we are super excited and it’s always a good feeling to have a name!
Sleep: About the same. Still surrounding myself with about 3 different pillows. My poor husband is off on his own island to sleep!! haha
Best moment this week: I got in tons of my baby stuff I ordered including the stroller/car seat combo, crib, swing and crib mattress. Plus, I had ordered some end of the season clothes and got those in as well. Still waiting on the glider then all the big stuff will be complete. Then on Saturday I got to go with my closest friend and do a little window shopping for some nursery decor. So my idea is coming together in my head….woot woot!!
Worst moment of the week: The fatigue is back. I had felt pretty good since week 13 with an adequate amount of energy. However, the sleepiness is coming back and really hits me around 1:30 – 2:00. I usually try to sneak in a small nap and feel better but sometimes I’m groggy the rest of the night.
Movement: He is awake around 8 hours a day now but I’m not always feeling him for that long. A lot of his activity is during the middle of the night while I’m sleeping so I miss out on a lot of those sweet kicks and punches. Still feeling a lot in the morning and evening and now he has decided he likes to practice his skills in the middle of the afternoon. My husband finally got to feel him 2 nights ago which was awesome and that’s always a great moment. Plus, at night I can lay on my back before going to bed and usually feel where he is laying which is fun.
Cravings: I had two cravings this week. Watermelon was my first and most vicious. I went to about 3 stores looking for watermelon and since it’s in the middle of winter I shouldn’t have been surprised when I had no luck. However, I finally found a little one and paid an extremely ridiculous price just to satisfy my craving. I must say it was worth every penny but very sad when I consumed it in about 5 minutes flat and was left with nothing but the rind. Sigh….sad day! My second was twizzlers. Honestly I haven’t had a twizzler in probably 10 years. We used to eat them a lot on road trips as a kid but I’m more of a chocolate person at this point. So I went out and bought a bag of twizzlers which I have been enjoying (probably more than I should) throughout the week. I’m trying to control myself since I don’t need the sugar and could probably sit and consume the whole bag mindlessly. Darn cravings!!
Queasy or sick: Nothing at this point. Minus the fatigue I’m feeling great.
Looking forward to: Getting past the halfway point. There is something about getting to week 21 that feels really great. It’s the first official week of the downward slope to meeting the little guy. However, pregnancy has always been pretty easy for me so I can’t say I’m too exhausted with it yet.
Baby item of the week: Our stroller! I am very excited about this item! I went with a jogging stroller this time with the car seat combo. I bought it online for a really good price and was a little unsure if it was going to live up to it’s name. I got it first and instantly put it together and must say I love it. It’s smooth as can be and the car seat is easy to fit in the base and transition to the stroller. The handle on the car seat is padded and ergonomically correct for easy carrying. The car seat is a little heavy but it’s about the same weight as all the other ones I’ve seen and felt. The base is easy to put in the car and the stroller folds very nicely for travel. I was pleasantly surprised at how expensive it looked and how easy it functioned for the price. I found it on Wal-Mart for $189 but since I am an Amazon prime member I purchased it from there for $179 with free shipping. Considering most jogging strollers are near $200 and most car seats are about $100 I’d say this was a pretty good steal. Here is the link for anyone wanting to purchase or peruse!
